Metrons

The Metrons were an advanced race of humanoids who sought to avoid dealing with a conflict between the U.S.S. Enterprise and a Gorn starship in their space by pitting the Gorn commander and Captain James T. Kirk against one another in a battle to the death. Kirk eventually impressed them when he showed mercy to his enemy, and the Metrons released them.
