Bioroid (Robotech)

A Bioroid are a type of large humanoid shaped Mecha used by the military forces of the Robotech Masters in the anime Robotech.

The Bioroids are piloted by the cloned warriors of the Tirolian people who sit within a sphere shaped cockpit that lies within the chest of the unit. Control of the unit is accomplished through telepathic recievers implanted into the pilots body allowing the warrior to move his unit with a single thought. This makes them incredibly fast and very adaptive in combat as they can function even if they are damaged; so long as the cockpit and the pilot remain intact.

They possess no built in weapons but make use of weapon drums in combat that fire energy blasts that can obliterate enemy units in a single shot. When called in combat operations, they make use of hover sleds that possess twin blasters allowing them to engage enemy fighters and perform strafing runs. They can also disembark these sleds and engage in urban operations; calling the sleds when they need to retreat.

The Bioroids operations are linked to command input generated from assault carriers that provide aeriel support in battle. Damaging such ships can force Bioroids to retreat. By the end of the Second Robotech War, the Robotech Masters constructed a new series of Bioroids known as the Invid Fighter that were superior to previous models and made use of a the closely coordinated triumvirate to enhance their capabilities in combat.
