The UAC held a base on Mars known as the Olduvai Research Facility with Ark travel linking their Earth based facilities with those on the red planet.
Background
In emergency situations, the UAC were known to employ a Level 5 Breach as well as quarantine procedures if an unknown outbreak threatened a facility. When there are personnel that are missing then, typically, a Code Black is initiated.
