(Episode: The Scarecrow Returns) He eventually formed his own international company called Doors International that worked to integrate Companion technology into Human equipment. (Episode: Crackdown) At least a year before the arrival of the Taelon's, Doors was responsible for finding the abandoned starship of the scientist Ma'el who had arrived on the planet two thousand years before. The vessel was located in Peru deep under the Pacific ocean. Whilst searching for oil and herbs, his people uncovered the starship which had been flooded with sea water. In order to begin excavation, he built a platform above and used it to pump the water out of the starship in order to begin examining it. This pet project of Doors took two years to accomplish and half a million dollars. Despite this being the case, the region suffered regularly from tomb robbers. (Episode: The Once and Future World)
Liberation
Politics
At the time of a public speech as part of his campaign, Doors was met by Kincaid and Marquette who showed them a picture of an unidentified woman inviting Augur into a car. Jonathan knew her and identified her as Beverly Woo; a physicist and noted ruthless businesswoman who he once tried to hire but she was too expensive for him. She was responsible for the creation of Portal Space Inc but had moved to a new more secretive Taelon project known as Forge to which he knew nothing about. When Kincaid stated that he wanted to save Augur, Doors casually stated that Augur had no loyalty and simply followed the individual with the most money which would get him into trouble one day. (Episode: Heroes and Heartbreak)
Following the crackdown over Liberation members around the world, Doors was taken captive and detained on the Taelon mothership. When he was met by Zo'or, Jonathan at first demanded to know what happened to his fellow captives but was told by the Synod leader that the Earth's political climate had changed greatly. He later offered an alliance with Doors that would benefit the two of them. (Episode: Crackdown)
Aftermath
At some point, Dr George Sato who was a close friend of Jonathan's decided to meet with Doors son Joshua under the pretext of brokering a peace between the two. However, after the meeting at One Taelon Avenue, Dr Sato never returned and in fact both he along with his wife left Doors International in order to work under Joshua Doors. Following this event, Jonathan Doors felt that George Sato had betrayed him in the end. (Episode: One Taelon Avenue)
When Doors arrived at One Taelon Avenue, he witnessed his son pull a gun on him with the intention of killing him. Jonathan managed to reason with his son by highlighting his mistakes. Just at that point, a energy field designed to purge a region of organic matter materialized under the direction of the Core Control who intended to eliminate Jonathan Doors. In order to save Joshua, Doors pushed his son away and the energy beam pushed him off the floor and he fell to the ground floor. He was fatally wounded by the act and his last words were to tell his son that he forgave him. In addition, he told Joshua to learn from the event and not repeat Jonathan's mistakes to his own son. A public funeral was held for Jonathan Doors with Doors International board appointing Joshua Director as interim CEO. (Episode: One Taelon Avenue)
Though he was apparently dead, a hologram of Doors was used at Doors International that gave speeches to employees as a motivator as well as morale based tool. (Episode: Limbo)
Background
Personality and attributes
Despite the tensions he felt with his son after Joshua's apparent betrayal during the events leading to the state of emergency, Jonathan still cared deeply for him and did wish him to be in harms way. He felt that he never lost faith in his son and that he was genuinely sorry to Joshua that he was not always there for him. When he was apparently killed, he told his son that it was not his fault and that he urged Joshua to learn from this event so that he would not repeat the same mistakes to his own children. (Episode: One Taelon Avenue) Supposedly, one of his last ventures was the production of free and clean energy through the use of cold fusion. (Episode: Limbo)
Doors was noted for his ruthless business practices and beliefs. A computer representation of himself once stated "those who fail to prepare go to the worms. Those who do live on in the info loop." (Episode: Limbo)
