The Stones were artifacts that featured in The Fifth Element.

Background

The Stones were four chest sized rocks which were tall that had three points. The origins of the Stones were unknown except that they were guarded by the Mondoshawan for use against the Great Evil. These four Stones were each dedicated to one of the four elements namely water, fire, earth and air. When brought to the hidden temple on Earth, the Stones were required to be activated by using one of those elemental natures on their dedicated stones such as pouring water on the water Stone or pouring sand on the earth Stone. Once activated, the Stones united with the Fifth Element which was the supreme being namely a member of the Monodshawan. This had to be a willing act which fired a powerful beam of light that defeated the Great Evil. If the Fifth Element was occupied by a being with evil in his heart meant that darkness would reign.

In 1914, the Stones were removed from their hidden temple by the arriving Mondoshawan due to the coming World War engulfing Earth. It was stated by the caretakers that the Stones would be returned when the Great Evil emerged. However, sensing that the Great Evil might have agents in place to stop the retun of the Stones, the Mondoshawan hid it within an alien diva. When the Great Evil emerged, the Stones were recovered and Leeloo accepted her duty to save the Human race which defeated the Great Evil before it impacted the planet.
