Thrawn is a male character that features in the Star Wars universe.

Biography

He was the commander of the Seventh Fleet when he was newly promoted to the rank of Grand Admiral. Under his new position, Thrawn was placed in charge of crushing the growing rebel insurgency that was erupting from a number of worlds and to do so without regard for civilian casualties. Imperial Governor Arihnda Pryce requested Grand Moff Tarkin with bringing in Thrawn to aid in destroying a rebel cell that had emerged from the planet Lothal. After arriving in the sector, he allowed the rebel forces to escape as he intended to learn their tactics in order to manipulate them so that he could orchestrate the complete destruction of the rebellion.

  • Grand Admiral Thrawn was created by writer Timothy Zahn where he debuted in the novel Heir to the Empire in the Legends (formerly Expanded Universe) continuity.

  • In Star Wars: TIE Fighter, Thrawn appeared in the setting of the video game where he was voiced by actor Tris King. During the events of the campaign, he was shown to had been a Vice-Admiral in the Imperial Navy who was loyal to the Emperor. During the operations against the Rebel Alliance, Grand Admiral Zaarin betrayed the Empire and went rogue with Thrawn leading the forces to put down his mutiny. Following the success of his mission, he was promoted by the Emperor who had him replace Zaarin as the Empire's newest Grand Admiral who joined the inner circle that consisted of 11 others with this rank.
  • In Star Wars: Empire at War - Forces of Corruption, Thrawn appeared in the setting of the real-time strategy video game where he was voiced by actor Robin Atkin Downes.
