Biography

Whilst in the U.S. Army, he was deployed to the Sin-Congolese War where he saved the life of fellow soldier James Rhodes with the two becoming friends. He later married Rhodes childhood friend Dr. Glenda Sandoval at the Schofield Barracks in Hawaii. Jacobs later abandoned the military to serve as a gun runner and mercenary where he sent munitions to Santo Marco dictator Luis Augustine. (War Machine v2 #1)

One day, he was shot and when he met his wife she was furious with Parnell with her not wanting to speak to him. Jacobs was believed to be dead but used that as a cover for his operations and to avoid people that might target him. War Machine later arrived to stop fighting that erupted at Santo Marco where he found Jacobs and knocked him unconscious after which he took Parnell to the orbiting Stark Satellite. Rhodes had taken Jacobs for two reasons; one was because his wife Glenda had been abducted in a war zone so he wanted his help to rescue her and because he needed help to maintain his new cyborg body along with the War Machine Armor. Jacobs immediately began helping War Machine and stayed at the satellite in the hope that Rhodes was able to save his wife Glenda. (War Machine v2 #1)
