Biography
Teclis was the twin brother to the High Elf warrior, Tyrion, and the direct descendant of Aenarion the Defender through his marriage to the Everqueen Astarielle. The brothers are as different as night and day. While Tyrion is fair and strong, Teclis is gaunt and frail, dependent on potions to lend him strength. What he lacks in physical power, Teclis makes up in his nearly unparalleled mastery of magic. While his brother Tyrion mastered the ways of battle and court intrigue, Teclis studied magic at the White Tower of Hoeth. His rapid mastery soon caught the attention of the High Loremaster, who took Teclis as his own student. Teclis quickly mastered the intricacies of High Magic. When the Dark Elves invaded Ulthan during the Second Great Chaos Incursion, they quickly attempted to capture the Everqueen Alarielle, who barely escaped with the aid of Tyrion. When Teclis learned his brother was missing and presumed dead, he insisted that he would know if his twin had passed on and determined to find him. He put all his power into forging a sword which would help counteract his weak frame and prepared to search for his brother. The High Loreaster granted him the use of the War Crown of Saphery to aid him in his quest. Teclis followed his link with his brother through Ulthuan, destroying the forces of chaos that stood in his way and bringing hope to the beleaguered elf defenders. When the spies of the Witch King, Malekith, found the hiding place of Tyrion and the Everqueen, he sent his ally N'Kari, a Greater Demon of Slaanesh, to finish off the injured Tyrion and return the Everqueen to him. As the demon prepared to claim its prize, Teclis emerged from the bushes and banished the demon with a pair of sorcerous thunderbolts. He used his magic to heal his brother's wounds and the group traveled to Finuval Plain for the final confrontation with the forces of the Dark Elves. After giving Tyrion the armor worn by his ancestor Aenarion, the Everqueen gave Teclis the Moon Staff of Lileath, the last remaining artifact given to the High Elves by the Moon Goddess.[1] Teclis refused any sword other than the one he forged himself.
After Tyrion began the battle by slaying Malekith's champion in single combat, Teclis engaged in a magical duel with the Witch King. Using his magic to stride into the air and survey the battlefield, Teclis realized that the High Elves would lose the battle if something decisive didn't happen soon. Calling upon the full power of the Moon Staff of Lileath, he launched a final, massive magical attack against Malekith. Despite having millennia to perfect his magical skills, Malekith was unable to turn back such a massive magical onslaught. He was forced to cast himself into the Realm of Chaos to escape ultimate destruction. With Teclis free to turn his spells on the Dark Elf forces and Tyrion slaying the bearer of Malekith's personal standard, the tide immediately turned in the High Elves' favor. The rout was the beginning of the push to banish the Dark Elves from Ulthuan once again. As the High Elf forces liberated Lothern, the capital of Ulthuan, an emissary from the human Empire arrived to request the help of the High Elves in fighting off the forces of Chaos. Unable to send warriors to relieve the embattled humans, Teclis volunteered to bring the humans a weapon of war they had not had access to in the Empire's 2000-year history: magic. Along with two other mages, they traveled to the Old World, where they began teaching the human hedge wizards the basics of Battle Magic. Following the conclusion of the war, the emperor Magnus the Pious requested the elves teach humans the full secrets of magic. Realizing that it would help mankind protect itself agains the forces of Chaos, Teclis established the Colleges of Magic to teach the humans all they could learn about the secrets of magic. Upon his return to Ulthuan, Teclis learned that the High Loremaster had died while he was in the Old World. The council of Saphery offered him the position, which Teclis was honored to accept.
Teclis played a role centuries later in the Storm of Chaos, by supplying Swordmasters of Hoeth and a readily available Sea Guard to Emperor Karl Franz. Furthermore, Teclis destroyed the entire daemonic army of Be'lakor single-handedly. Teclis saved Gotrek and Felix when they are trapped in the Paths of the Old Ones. He meets Albion's Oracle, the head of an order of magicians known as the Truthsayers. Following the destruction of the twin Chaos Sorcerers Kelmain and Lhoigor, Teclis stabilizes the Paths of the Old Ones by sacrificing the willing Truthsayer Murdo Mac Baldoch. This act saved all of Ulthuan from sinking and the rest of the world from falling to Chaos
