History
The Order of the Magic Knights 「魔法騎士団 Mahō Kishi-dan」were an organization of magic users who served as protectors of the Clover Kingdom.
Overview
Members of the Magic Knights were divided into nine different squads each of whom were led by one of their own that held the title of captain「団長 danchō」 of the squad. The different squads possessed their own insignia that corresponded with their name and wore distinctive signature robes that helped differentiate the various squads from one another.
Recruitment occurred after those with magic power went through the Grimoire Acceptance Ceremony and chosen by a grimoire. Once they possessed a grimoire, they were eligible to take part in the Magic Knights Entrance Exam whereby anti-magic birds surrounded those with weak magic power whilst the strongest had no birds around them as an indicator on strength. They then went through a number of trials such as using magic to ride brooms and other such tests of power. This eventually led to a one-on-one duel between two contestants with these being overseen by the captains of the various squads. Once completed, all candidates were gathered and called forth by number whereby a captain could express interest in having a person in their squad. Multiple captains could select a candidate and it was the recruit that decided which squad they wanted to be accepted in by the end. However, if a candidate was called forth and no hands were raised by the captains then they were rejected by the Magic Knights with them being forced to depart.
