History
The Order of the Magic Knights 「魔法騎士団 Mahō Kishi-dan」were an organization of magic users who served as protectors of the Clover Kingdom.
The Royal Capital later came under attack from Rades Spirito who used his wraith magic to summon hordes of undead to attack the city in an act of revenge against the Magic Knights.
Overview
In appearance, the Magic Knights were an organization of magic users that were citizens of the Clover Kingdom and tasked with serving as the nation's military. Thus, they were considering of holding the noble duty of protecting the kingdom from a wide range of threats from invasions by foreign nations to local crimes within the realm. A Knight was indicated by them wearing a robe that indicated their affiliation to specific squads in the organization.
Members of the Magic Knights were divided into nine different squads each of whom were led by one of their own that held the title of captain「団長 danchō」 of the squad. The different squads possessed their own insignia that corresponded with their name and wore distinctive signature robes that helped differentiate the various squads from one another.

Recruitment occurred after those with magic power went through the Grimoire Acceptance Ceremony and chosen by a grimoire. Once they possessed a grimoire, they were eligible to take part in the Magic Knights Entrance Exam whereby anti-magic birds surrounded those with weak magic power whilst the strongest had no birds around them as an indicator on strength. They then went through a number of trials such as using magic to ride brooms and other such tests of power. This eventually led to a one-on-one duel between two contestants with these being overseen by the captains of the various squads. Once completed, all candidates were gathered and called forth by number whereby a captain could express interest in having a person in their squad. Multiple captains could select a candidate and it was the recruit that decided which squad they wanted to be accepted in by the end. However, if a candidate was called forth and no hands were raised by the captains then they were rejected by the Magic Knights with them being forced to depart.
Upon joining the Magic Knights, every member received a salary on a regular basis as their role was considered an occupation with the money typically distributed by a squad's respective captain. Acts of exceptional importance led to members being awarded a star as a sign of achievement. These were given by the Magic Emperor themselves to the individual knight or even to a group that had performed a mission together as a unit. Individuals that were seen as dangerous were exiled from the ranks of the Magic Knights.
An annual event conducted by the Knights was the War Merits Conferment Ceremony whereby members that produced multiple excellent results were summoned to the Royal Capital. Once there, they received promotions from the Magic Emperor himself with their achievements was recognised.
Within the Knights, all members were typically accepted into the ranks whether they were nobility or commoner. Despite this being the case, there was a degree of classism among the Magic Knights with the nobles believing themselves superior to the commoners. The nobility of the Clover Kingdom were responsible for funding the Knights and often gave them assignments such as escort details for one of their number.
