Biography

Sylvie Lushton was a female human born in the modern age where she had lived in Broxton, Oklahoma who lived in an all-American town. (Avengers Academy v1 #35) It was known that Loki was responsible for giving her power and making Sylvie believe she was an Asgardian. (Dark Reign: Young Avengers v1 #4) According to her, she simply went to sleep one night and the next day she found herself transformed with having magical abilities. She came to move to New York City with the goal of joining the rank of the Avengers. As part of her new superpowered identity, she began to refer to herself as the Enchantress. (Dark Reign: Young Avengers v1 #3)

The 'Enchantress' was hired by Caroline le Fay alongside a team of villains to find the Pandemonium Axles and awake them through magic as well as technology. This brought them into conflict with the Defenders and they were ultimately overwhelmed leading to their defeat at the hands of the superheroes. (Fearless Defenders v1 #9)

She then came to join the ranks of the Hood's version of the Illuminati where she claimed to be the original Amora the Enchantress. (Illuminati v1 #5)

Whilst in Greenwich Village, she lamented at her failure when she was confronted by the real Enchantress who was angered at Amora using her name. She banished Sylvie to the harshest of the Ten Realms that if she survived her experience then the two could be 'friends' but Amora did not believe Lushton would survive. (Illuminati v1 #7)

Overview

Personality and attributes

She hated being human and instead wanted to be a god like the Asgardians. All Sylvie ever wanted was to prove that she was more than a dumb girl from Broxton and felt that she could do better with her believing she was owed this by life. Lushton had taken the name of the Enchantress thinking it would make others take her seriously. (Illuminati v1 #7)
