  • Gladiator was created by Chris Claremont and Dave Cockrum where he made his first appearance in X-Men v1 #107 (October, 1977).

Alternate Versions

  • In Old Man Quill v1 (2019), an alternate version of Gladiator was shown to inhabit Earth-807128 that was home to the Wastelands. In this universe, he and the Imperial Guard fell under sway of the Universal Church of Truth that came to worship the World Devourer Galactus.

Television

  • In X-Men, Gladiator made his first appearance in the 1990s animated television series where he was voiced by an uncredited actor. He appeared within the Phoenix Saga adaptation where he served Emperor D'Ken and was sent to acquire the M'Kraan crystal. During this time, he was noted to serve the Shi'ar Imperial throne and was duty bound to serve whoever was ruler of the empire. After D'Ken acquired the crystal, the mad emperor sought to destroy the universe with Gladiator and the Imperial Guard working alongside the X-Men to stop him. Afterwards, Lilandra was became the new ruler of the Shi'ar with Gladiator coming to serve her.

Video games

  • In Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, Gladiator appeared as a boss level antagonist in the setting of the video game where he was voiced by actor Dave Wittenberg. After Deathbird took the throne from Lilandra, Gladiator was among the Imperial Guard that served her. During dialogue, he noted that he was not willingly serving her but rather did so out of duty as she ruled the throne.
