History
Origin
The Tornado Twins were twins Don Allen and Dawn Allen both of whom were the direct descendants of Barry Allen who was the superhero speedster known as the Flash. (Adventure Comics v1 #373)
In the 30th century, Don came to meet Meloni Thawne who was the daughter of Earthgov President Thawne. The Thawne family over ten generations had been bitter enemies of the Allen's but Meloni came to fall in love with Don. This saw her becoming pregnant with his child who was Bart Allen but the hatred President Thawne felt for the Allen was so deep that he saw his daughter as being corrupted by Don Allen. As a result, he conspired with the Dominators to take over the planet and had the Tornado Twins killed in the process. Though deceased, the Twin's own respective children came to survive the purge with Bart taken away for study whilst Dawn Allen's daughter Jenni was left unharmed as she seemingly never inherited her mothers superspeed. Post-Flashpoint
Following the Flashpoint, a new version of reality was created with a different history of events. Dawn and Don Allen were the twin children of Barry Allen and Iris West where they were raised in the 30th century. This time together was said to be the happiest time of his life but when they were young the twin's father went into the Multiverse to save it from destruction. The Flash never returned to this era leading to his children growing up without him. One day, they were attacked by an assailant and saved by Eobard Thawne who took the twins under his wing. He had taught them to use their speed-related abilities and they came to see him as an uncle. (The Flash v5 #758)
The Reverse-Flash came to recruit the Tornado Twins he had raised to become part of his Legion of Zoom. (The Flash v5 #758)
Overview
In appearance, the Tornado Twins were a pair of brother and sister. They were known to sometimes wear yellow costumes that resembled that of Kid Flash. The Twins gene patterns being similar to their ancestor Barry Allen meant that superspeed could be gifted to them. With the speed of the Flash, they could achieve many of the feats of their ancestor in that they could run incredibly fast, vibrate through walls, create super-speed wind currents to becoming cyclone winds and other similar feats. In other media
Television
- In Young Justice, the Tornado Twins appeared in the setting of the animated television series starting from the episode "Bloodlines". They were the children of Barry Allen and Iris West-Allen with them inheriting their fathers super-speed. Don's son was Bart Allen who travelled from the Reach-dominated future into the present to prevent his timeline from coming to pass. After succeeding, he remained in the present where he helped care for his toddler aged father and aunt.
