Biography
Origin
Granny Goodness was one of the race of deities known as the New Gods and an inhabitant of the planet Apokolips. She was originally called Goodness by her parents and from a young age was enrolled in the military of her world. During this time, she underwent training and demonstrated skill in her fighting ability along with her loyalty to the ideals of Darkseid. Around this time, she was assigned her own war hound that she named Mercy with her forging a close relationship with the beast with them working well together as a pair in the following months. This was until the day of her final exam where she was ordered by her examiner to kill the hound. However, Goodness refused and instead killed the examiner leading to her arrest where she went a public trial facing execution. Darkseid himself questioned Goodness on why he killed one of his examiners with her replying that she had done it in loyalty to the dark master of Apokolips. She demonstrated this by showing that her war hound would obey him first and her second. Darkseid then commanded Mercy to turn against Goodness who was prepared with an energy gauntlet where she killed her once faithful hound. The New God Darkseid was impressed at her foresight and willingness to kill her loved hound leading to him deciding to promote her into his inner circle leading to her eventual rise to be a close advisor to the master of Apokolips. (Secret Origins of Super-Villains 80-Page Giant v1 #1) At some unknown point, he was known to had gifted her Overlord who became precious to Granny. (Mister Miracle v1 #2)
When Scott Free escaped to Earth, Granny Goodness was furious and sought his death. Thus, she enacted plans in capturing him with her first using Overlord who failed in his mission. As a result, her soldier boys were dispatched but they ended up capturing a follower dummy and Oberon instead leading to Goodness being angered at her recruits. However, Mister Miracle arrived to save his friend but both him and Oberon were sent into the X-Pit by Overlord. Whilst looking for a means of escape, Mister Miracle came to realise that the threat lay with Overlord and directed Mother Box into sending a burst of energy to attack him leading to his death. This led to Granny mourning the death of Overlord and she vowed revenge against Mister Miracle who fled with Oberon. (Mister Miracle v1 #2)
Darkseid came to be responsible for capturing the Greek pantheon. It was then that Granny Goodness began to take the form of Artemis. In this form, she masqueraded as the goddess where she offered to turn mortals into Amazons. However, in reality, she was using them and putting them through training so that only the worthy among them would become new Female Furies. (Countdown v1 #21) The actual gods of Olympus remained trapped within a device located on Apokolips thus preventing them from aiding their mortal worshippers. (Countdown v1 #10)
Trapped on Apokolips, Harley Quinn, Holly Robinson and Mary Bromfield went on the run where they encountered the machine that trapped the gods of Olympus. Calling upon their magic, Bromfield was transformed back into her Mary Marvel form whereupon the gods empowered the Harley and Holly to fight against the Apokoliptian forces. Leaving her forces to fight the mortals, Granny attempted to flee but she was confronted by the God Killer who murdered her and departed the scene leaving her corpse behind. (Countdown v1 #10)
Post-Flashpoint
Following the Flashpoint, a new version of reality was created with a different history of events.

Powers and abilities
As a New God, she had superhuman reflexes, strength and endurance.
Her status as a New God meant that in reality she was gigantic compared to the mortals of the lower spheres. It was only the use of Boom Tubes that adjusted their size that made them appear the same size as mortals of Earth. (Supergirl v4 #24)
She had the ability to take on the form of others. (Countdown v1 #21)
As a member of Darkseid's Elite, Granny Goodness had access to the highly advanced technology of Apokolips.
She was gifted Overlord by Darkseid as a gift with this resembling a miniature humanoid machine with an enlarged head that could fit in a persons hand. Overlord was actually highly sophisticated technology that was akin to a Mother Box who reacted to Granny's every wish. The machines power allowed it to create anything she desired and remodel molecules to form complex devices such as torment circuitry. It was through this means that he was able to form the X-Pit on behalf of his master. From a remote position, Overlord could also enact plans to eliminate enemies on her behalf. He was considered precious to Granny with many useful gifts along with a creative mind and she kept him safely hidden within a box. (Mister Miracle v1 #2)
Her position allowed her to command large number of soldiers that she trained at her orphanages. These she disciplined and put through harsh training for them to become her soldier boys. (Mister Miracle v1 #2)
On Apokolips, her headquarters on the planet was the Sinister Snarl that served as her training ground for her Female Furies. Within there was the Maniac Menagerie whereby her followers could equip themselves with special weapons such as Mother Boxes. (Harley Quinn v3 #45)
