Gundams are a type of mecha that feature in Mobile Suit Gundam.

History

Universal Century

The Gundams were the result of mecha technology development that came as a result of the use the Principality of Zeon's highly agile mobile suits. These weapons were used during the early phase of the One Year War that provided the smaller nation a major tactical advantage over the much larger Earth Federation.

Gundam Seed

Gundam was an acronym for "General Unilateral Neuro-Link Dispersive Autonomic Maneuver"

Overview

In appearance, Gundam was a term that designated any mobile suit built from gundanium alloy. Gundam also tend to be exceptional units, more advanced than most other mobile suits of their time.

Notes

• Gundams were created by Kunio Okawara where they featured in the setting of the Mobile Suit Gundam universe.
• The Japan Self-Defense Forces had built an approximately full scale RX-78-3 Gundam with styrofoam in its show and contained a simulation pod. [1]
