Biography

Catherine Elizabeth Halsey was a female human born on March 19, 2492 on the colony world of Endymion in the coastal city of Port Vernon. When she was young, she was sent to an elite academy called Endymion Gifted where she outperformed education standards.

This led to her being sent on a trip to Circumstance in 2501 from the Dean of Biological Science at Koletre-Browning University who completely funded her education until 2507.

When she was 15 years old, she had already completed two doctoral thesis papers and was noted for her bright mind.

The young prodigy cam to be recruited by the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) where she was to spearhead the top-secret SPARTAN-I and MJOLNIR Projects. This saw her being brought to the planet Reach in 2510 to operate as a civilian consultant on these classified projects. In 2515, Dr. Halsey became the youngest scientific advisor in ONI’s history and eventually came to be the agency’s Chief Scientist in 2522.

During this time, she came to be involved in the creation of a remarkable A.I. that she made called Cortana.

The moral ambiguities involved in her research caused many questions to be raised about the doctor's ethics. This eventually led to her arrest on the Forerunner world of Onyx.

Despite her arrest, ONI continued to use Halsey and consulted her expertise in integrating the Forerunner engines into the UNSC Infinity. In addition, she was asked to help in the analysis of a number of Forerunner artifacts.
