Biography
Gideon was a male Mutant who was born in Spain during the 15th century. In that time, he came to be part of Christopher Columbus's expedition in 1492 where he was on a ship that succumbed to scurvy. He seemingly died in the journey where at that point his nature as an External manifested where he resurrected himself just as the ship reached the world. (X-Force v1 #37)

Whilst being more than 500 years old, he retained the appearance and vigor of a man in his physical prime. (X-Force v1 #37)
His mutation was the power of super human enhancement assimilation. In one case, he was able to assimilate the abilities of combat modules where he gained their power of flight, maneuverability, computer-coordinated reflexive response and strength. (New Mutants v1 #98)

- In X-Men, Gideon made a brief cameo non-voiced appearance in the 1990's animated series in the episode "Sanctuary, Part 2". He along with Saul were watching Fabian Cortez's broadcast to the world from Asteroid M after the apparent death of Magneto.
