Biography

Giyu Tomioka (Japanese: 冨とみ岡おか義ぎ勇ゆう, Hepburn: Tomioka Giyū?)

Whilst travelling through the snow covered mountains, he came to find Tanjiro Kamado whose sister Nezuko Kamado having been turned into a demon. At first, Giyu looked to eliminate her as per his duty but Tanjiro moved to protect his sister. Tomioka though came to dismiss his pleas and continued his attempt at killing the demon.

He along with the Insect Hashira Shinobu Kocho were dispatched to the Natagumo Mountain (那な田た蜘ぐ 蛛も山やま Natagumo yama?) to assist the Demon Slayer Corps there after a number of their hunters were killed by the Spider family. Upon arriving, Giyu and Shinobu separated in order to cover more ground as well as eliminate any demons in the area. Tomioka himself managed to arrive just in time to help save Tanjiro who was engaged in battle against the Kizuki Rui and had nearly been killed by the Spider family's leader. Giyu and the demon then battled where the Water Hashira managed to effortlessly slay Rui whose head was severed from his body. As the spider demon slowly decayed, Tomioka walked over its body though Tanjiro begged the senior Demon Slayer to respect it as Rui was once human and deserved compassion in his final moments. omioka came to realise that the boy and his sister were the siblings he had saved from sometime ago. This caused him to stop Shinobu from killing the sister Nezuko despite her being a demon where he told Kamado to run away with his sibling whilst he found off Kocho.
