History
The Power Company was a superhero team created by Josiah Power who styled them as a business that offered their services to clients that paid for them. (JLA v1 #61)
Power was one of America's best lawyers until his metagene was triggered during the Alien Invasion by the activation of the Gene-Bomb. Following the untimely public activation of his metagene in the courtroom, attorney Josiah Power resigned from his law firm. (The Power Company v1 #1) On November 27, Power's metahuman ability activates for the first time while he is presenting a case in court. This effectively ended his legal career where he was later contacted by a group which was recruiting newly empowered metahumans with the intent of using them to commit crimes. Power's own abilities did not manifest again, and he was compelled to sit out their missions. Those who go on would come to confront the Creeper, Firestorm and Wonder Woman in separate incidents. A few weeks later, the combined efforts of the Justice League, and Superman succeed in capturing the raiders, and tracking them to their lair. Upon their arrival, the heroes discover that Josiah had already subdued all those present. Later, Superman mets with Josiah Power again in order to get the full story of the incident. (The Power Company: Josiah Power v1 #1)
Power had little interest in becoming a traditional costumed hero, but it became readily apparent that he could not continue to practice law without any undue public attention. He capitalizes on his professional experience to organize a for-hire team of heroes much along the lines of a law firm. Their very first mission as a team is against the East Asian criminal organization known as the Black Dragon Society. They successfully defuse a hostage situation initiated by the Society and returned to their base of operations.
Sometime later, the Crime Syndicate of Amerika came to the positive-matter Earth where they attacked a S.T.A.R. Labs facility in San Francisco. The Power Company responded to the incident where it was learnt that they were defeated by the Multiversal invaders. (JLA v1 #111)
Members of the super-powered Cadre came to target technology companies in major cities with them coming into conflict with the Power Company. Around this time, Power was still gathering the last members for his business where he looked to recruit Skyrocket into the company. She would refuse but the team would respond to an incident at the San Francisco museum that involved the Godstone that was a mysterious relic which Doctor Cyber looked to acquire for herself. (The Power Company v1 #1)
They were hired to defend a S.T.A.R. Labs facility, only to be brutally defeated by Doctor Impossible and his new gang of villains. In a conversation at the JLA Watchtower, the Guardian mentions that all of the Power Company members are currently hospitalized, and that Josiah would've died had Mon-El not forced open his rib cage in order to help treat his heart.
