Biography

Origin

Connor Hawke

He sought to learn archery from Hattori-sensei at the monastery. (Green Arrow v2 #0)

About six months after Ollie had re-entered the monastery, two NSA-employed mercenaries came looking to kill him. With the help of Connor, they defeated the assassins, but Ollie knew it wasn't safe to stay at the monastery. When leaving the Ashram, Connor joined him, claiming to want to learn to be a better archer from the best. (Green Arrow v2 #0)

Connor also applied for membership to the JLA, taking his father's place. On what would be his second interview, he single-handedly saved the League from the hands of the Key. Connor defeated the Key's robots using his father's old trick arrows since his own were destroyed. In the end, he knocked out the Key using the famous boxing glove arrow, and was accepted as a member of the League. (JLA v1 #9) Later on, the JLA Revenge Squad wrecked havoc on Star City where it was discovered that they were hard-light duplicates of the Justice League. Green Arrow and the JLA responded and drove them off, but the Revenge Squad was deactivated and sent back to the Injustice Gang headquarters. The Gang was merely taking the new JLA’s measure before confronting them. Aztek was in the JLA Monitor Womb when he detected a massive amount of energy heading toward Earth, and Martian Manhunter chose to investigate it. He was devastated by the Genesis Wave and realized it was headed toward Earth. (JLA v1 #10)

Kyle Rayner took Green Arrow to Sunny Brooke Mall on Christmas eve to do some last minute shopping. The power went out in the mall when a man who’s girlfriend left him went nuts and hacked into the mall’s computer system. Kyle couldn’t reason with him, and he took a nun hostage. Arrow shared Buddhist dogma with the man, telling him life was suffering and that he had to accept the present, eventually convincing him to hand over his weapon. Arrow suggested Kyle forget about presents and just tell his teammates how much he appreciated their friendship, but Kyle was having none of it. (DCU Holiday Bash v1 #2)

Arsenal visited Arrow, and he asked him to get Connor Hawke out of the house for a while. Connor kept trying to get Arrow to open up about Joanna Pierce's death, and Arrow just needed time to be angry. Connor and Arsenal went for a boy's night out, with Connor choosing to go to a used bookstore. Arsenal wasn't enjoying himself and took him to an exotic dance club where he was on a first-name basis with the dancers. Connor asked Arsenal why people assumed he didn't like women just because he didn't chase after them like Green Arrow did. Connor said he was just waiting for real love. Afterwards they foiled a convenience store holdup, and noted the difference in their methods. Connor tried to get one of the robbers to hand over his gun, but Arsenal had no patience and knocked the criminal out. Their attitude about fun and women and crimefighting were different, but they both realized they had a lot in common under the surface because they were both their father's sons. (Green Arrow v3 #32)

When Arsenal was gunned down by a Brother Blood cultist, Green Arrow and his father raced to Arsenal's hospital bed. He accompanied Arsenal's team the Outsiders on a mission to stop Brother Blood from activating cultist sleeper agents to kidnap one million infants. Green Arrow and the Outsiders succeeded in foiling Blood's scheme and brought him into police custody. (Outsiders v3 #6)

Connor would take Dinah's adoptive daughter Sin to a safe location at Oliver's request. After the wedding of Oliver and Black Canary, Connor resumes the mantle of Green Arrow after it is believed that his father has once more been killed. Along with Dinah and Batman, Connor is one of the few people who believes that Oliver is still alive. His suspicions are confirmed when it is revealed that Oliver is being held captive by the Amazons, and Connor and Dinah decide to stage a rescue attempt. (Green Arrow and Black Canary v1 #2)

Taking on the mantle of Green Arrow again, Connor travelled to Coast City to face Ollie after his transformation into a Black Lantern caused by Nekron. During their battle, Ollie mocked Connor, telling him that he always hated him because he reminded him of how old he was getting. Connor was hesitant to fight his father, but eventually stopped him by spraying him with liquid nitrogen, freezing him solid. After Ollie's defeat, Connor, Mia, and Dinah joined in the fight against the other Black Lanterns. (Green Arrow and Black Canary v1 #30)

Post-Flashpoint

Following the Flashpoint, a new version of reality was created with a different history of events.

Overview

Personality and attributes

He later came to adopt a costume similar to his father and began to operate as the Green Arrow. (Green Arrow v2 #91)

He had a deep love of archery and wanted to learn it. (Green Arrow v2 #0)

Prior to meeting Oliver Queen, he had never seen the Green Arrow but had read of his exploits. It was said that he looked up to Oliver when he had returned to the monastery. (Green Arrow v2 #0)

Powers and abilities

Connor came to train in martial arts and was a skilled close combat fighter. (Green Arrow v2 #0)

At one point, it was shown that he came under the tutelage of Richard Dragon. (Richard Dragon #7)

Growing up at the monastery, he showed a particular skill towards archery with an impressive aim with his teachers believing he had great potential. However, he trained in Kyudo's which was unlike western archery as it involved physical technique of posture, breathing, drawing and releasing. The other aspect of it was the spiritual which was at the heart of Zen archery where the goal was to expand the consciousness outside of one's self. Thus, he sought to become the bow, the arrow, the target and everything where he initially struggled to master this element. His archery talent thus allowed him to easily hit a target but if it was without spirit then the act was for nothing. (Green Arrow v2 #0)

As a result of Dr. Sivana's genetic reassignment experiment, Connor came to be imparted with a regenerative healing factor possibly derived from Plastic Man. This led to him being incredibly hard to hurt, heal at an accelerated rate and his pain threshold had dramatically increased. (Green Arrow and Black Canary v1 #14)
