Biography

Darwin as an X-Man in X-Men: Deadly Class v1 #4.

Armando Muñoz was a male human Mutant born in the modern age on Earth. From birth, he was different from other children whereby 4 years old he was bald with his arms being longer than normal whilst his eyes seemed to change. His father came to abandon him at this time whilst his mother blamed her own son for his mutation. Thus, Armando grew up facing nothing but rejection where his own mother despised him though he did not hate her for it. Instead, he did everything possible to earn her love and looked for a way to make her proud of him. One day, he took part in an IQ test where his desire to impress his mother led to the subconscious activation of his mutant ability resulting in him testing off the chart. This led to him quickly being enrolled at a renowned boarding school which was Biltmore Academy for Advanced Education though in reality he was sent away mostly because his mother still hated him. At school, the teachers loved Armando for his intellect though he faced constant bullying from the other students. One day, the bullies even put his head in the toilets where Armando found that his mutation allowed him to breath underwater. After lifting his head out, he began to fight back at his bullies where he felt his arms becoming tough almost like cement when he punched them. This caused the bullies to flee in the face of him with Armando never bringing up what happened that day. (X-Men: Deadly Genesis v1 #2)

Afterwards, he volunteered to join Xavier on his mission to stop the insane Vulcan who had gone into deep space to get his revenge against the Shi'ar. (Uncanny X-Men v1 #476)

Later, he came to join the Mutant nation that formed on Krakoa where he was one of many of his kind that looked towards forming a united society. During this time, he was called upon to help against the threat posed by the Children of the Vault. Thus, he joined a team that consisted of Synch and X-23 to infiltrate the accelerated time-space within the Vault with the three being deemed as the only ones able to survive the effects of time within the structure.
