History

The Starforce were an elite team of superpowered members of the Kree empire that were brought together by the Supreme Intelligence. They were assembled to aid their leader the war between the Kree and the Shi'ar. They were sent to apprehend the Avengers who had come to Hala hoping to seek a diplomatic solution, and engaged them in combat. Although the Avengers managed to hold their own, the battle ended when Deathbird slew Ael-Dan and Dar-Benn, the leaders of the Kree, resulting the Supreme Intelligence assuming leadership of the Kree again. The Avengers were all taken into custody. (Avengers v1 #346) Now joined by Ronan and recognized by the Empire, all of Starforce except for Atlas and Minerva were sent to the Shi'ar Throneworld to kill Lilandra. They were opposed there by the Avengers who had been meeting with Lilandra, and by the Imperial Guard. By working together, the two teams were able to defeat Starforce. (Thor v1 #446) Lilandra sentenced Starforce to death, but the Avengers opposed this, and fought the Imperial Guard over them. After learning that the Skrulls had been manipulating part of the war, Lilandra set Ultimus free in the hopes that he could convince the Kree to help her end the war. (Avengers West Coast v1 #82) Before peace could be reached, the Kree-Shi'ar war ended with the decimation of the Kree Empire. Captain Atlas and Dr. Minerva faked their deaths on Hala so that they could start a life together elsewhere. Lilandra assumed leadership of the Kree, and set Deathbird to rule the planet Hala, with Starforce as her own Imperial Guard, but Ronan and the Supremor no longer served as members of Starforce. (Avengers v1 #347) Starforce intercepted Quasar and his allies Makkari and Her on Hala. Although the three heroes had come to assist Hala in rebuilding the planet, Deathbird did not believe them, and Quasar and his friends fled to avoid a pointless battle. (Quasar v1 #35)

Though absorbed into the Shi'ar corps, the rise of the nu-elite led to the Kree empires autonomy being restored. The new government then came to brand the Starforce as defectors leading to the group being considered pariahs. As a result, they sought to resettle elsewhere leading to Korath moving to Godthab Omega. (Annihilation: Ronan v1 #1)

A new initiative by the Kree empire saw the creation of the Starforce Blue branch with one of their missions being to investigate the possible theft of their technology by Walter Lawson of Earth. (Marvel Team-Up v4 #6)

Overview

In appearance, the members of the Starforce were all super-powered beings that had ties to the Kree empire. (Avengers v1 #346) Typically, they were not sent on rescue missions but rather sent to terminate a target. They were designated as a team of first responders that were sent into the most dangerous situations of the empire. (Marvel Team-Up v4 #6)

A new initiative by the Kree empire saw the creation of Starforce Blue that were not sent on termination mission but to investigate breaches in Kree law. Each of its members were selected to represent the different aspects of the Kree criminal justice system with a Pursuer, Detainer, an Accuser, a Protector and a Judge being sent on such missions.
