Bushmaster (John McIver)

John McIver was a male human born on Earth in the modern age. He was noted to have had a younger brother named Quincy McIver. As a teenager, John and his younger brother lived as street urchins on an unspecified Caribbean Island. Unlike his brother, John was fast and savvy enough to stay out of trouble, despite stealing from local merchants. After finding out that Quincy had blurted out that they were brothers to a shopkeeper who had caught him, John gave him a beating. A few nights later, John beat the shopkeeper to death. Years later, John was in the employ of Herve Argosy, as one of his top musclemen in his gun exporting business. John got Quincy an in with Argosy, but Quincy ended up getting all four limbs chopped off by a motorboat propeller on his first mission. John visited his brother in the hospital, mocking his misfortune. He then took the name John Bushmaster, which one of his ladyfriends had given him, and he headed off to Europe to run some of Argosy's trade there. (Captain America Annual v1 #10) Over a period of at least several years, John Bushmaster managed to take absolute control of the European branch of the Maggia. As he began to show interest in expanding into the U.S. starting with New York. He attracted the attention of the FBI, CIA, and Interpol, who all tried and failed to infiltrate his organization. Eventually, the New York City District Attorney sent former policewoman Misty Knight to try and infiltrate Bushmaster's operation where she went under the name Maya Korday. She managed to succeed in her task where she became Bushmaster's confidant and lover. Bushmaster returned early from his conference in Port Harcort and warmly greeted Maya at the Cutlass Bay resort on the Caribbean island of Ste. Emile. (Iron Fist v1 #15)
Bushmaster (Quincy McIver)

Quincy McIver as a male human born on Earth in the modern age. He was the younger brother of John McIver where he grew up on a Caribbean island. When he was 12 years old, he was caught shoplifting beside his older brother John, who managed to escape. John though came to believe that Quincy had ratted on him to the shopkeeper whilst he was caught, and beat first Quincy then the shopkeeper, where he killed the latter. Years later, John got Quincy a job unloading cocaine for Herve Argosy, a gun-runner. Several nights later the police busted the smuggling ring, and Quincy dove into the water to escape, more afraid of his brother's reaction to his arrest than actually being arrested. He was run over by a police boat, and woke in the hospital, having lost all four limbs to the boat's propellers. His brother John visited him in the hospital just once, telling Quincy that he was going to Europe for Mr. Argosy, and that he was changing his name to John Bushmaster; that was the last time Quincy ever saw him. A month or so later, Roxxon Oil executive Seth Voelker visited Quincy in the hospital, and told him that Roxxon wanted him for an experiment in prosthetics. Roxxon made the charges against Quincy vanish, and he was sent to the Brand Corporation's New York facilities, where a week's worth of operations gave him bionic arms and a bionic snake's body where his legs once were - Voelker termed it 'Roxxon's idea of an improvement'. Quincy heard that his brother had received super-strength and then been killed, so he took his brother's old name of Bushmaster. Roxxon told Bushmaster that if he served them for one year they'd give him prosthetic legs at that time, but the Brand Corporation was closed down and Roxxon president Hugh Jones placed in an asylum before the year ended; Quincy was stuck as Bushmaster permanently.
