History

Haro (Japanese: ハロ, Hepburn: Haro) were a series of spherical robots that were created by humanity.

Universal Century

Haro was originally a mascot robot released by SUN Corporation in U.C. 0078. It has a basic artificial intelligence, as well as a range of features, including facial recognition, voice recognition, rudimentary speech, and the ability to move both under gravity and in zero G by rolling, walking, and jumping. Its cuteness made it highly popular among middle school students. It later became the mascot of the Colony Public Corporation, and served as the narrator for the CPC's orientation video for space colonists.

Cosmic Era

Haro was built by Athrun Zala as a gift to Lacus Clyne after he began to become romantically involved with her. After witnessing Lacus' joyfulness with Mr. Pink, Athrun created several more Haros, whom Lacus kept at her home. When Lacus and her father were labeled traitors by Patrick Zala, the Haros were abandoned at her home when the two left, however, she retrieved Mr. Pink before leaving the PLANT Colonies.

At the outbreak of the Second Alliance-PLANT War, the Lacus' impersonator Meer Campbell had her own Haro to further portray herself as the real Lacus. In C.E. 74, Meer's Haro delivered a message to Lacus and the members of the Three Ships Alliance as part of a plan to assassinate Lacus.

Anno Domini

Haros were created by Celestial Being where they assisted the organization in the role maintenance of its technology and equipment. They can assist in piloting a Gundam, calibrate systems, repair, network communications, and have their own AI to make certain independent judgments. While doing maintenance, the Haros usually pilot machines called 'Karel' in order to physically facilitate the repairs. Their primary function is maintenance over Celestial Being's technology. While they have legs and arms to travel and walk, they tend to remain in their ball form when traveling around in space or land.

The Ptolemaios carried at least 28 Haros. It is unknown how many are carried on the Ptolemaios 2 though along with Lockon's orange Haro and Saji's red Haro, a green Haro was also known to be aboard and helped from time to time with the repairs to both Ptolemy and the Gundams. Team Trinity's purple Haro is confirmed to be linked with Veda, as Ribbons Almark can hijack it with his ability to control Veda.

Ad Stella

It consisted of a spherical base unit used by the Benerit Group for infrastructure tasks. It could be given a broad range of functions by exchanging various attachments, enabling it to provide many different kinds of services.

The first-year student Rouji Chante regularly carried with him his own customised Haro. Unlike the standard Haro, this Haro is painted green instead. When Rouji oversees the arranging of the third duel between Guel Jeturk and Suletta Mercury, this Haro speaks in his place.
