Origin

Maki Matsumoto as an assassin in Daredevil v2 #111.

As a young girl, she was kidnapped by the Yakuza and held with a number of other girls in Tokyo where they intended to be sold into sexual slavery. During her imprisonment, her mind was broken and it was during this time the Yakuza were attacked by Bullseye who effortlessly killed them. Maki witnessed their deaths with her seeing it as a thing of beauty and she became inspired to adopt the life of a killer. She managed to escape her jail cell where she slit the throat of one of the Yakuza before she embarked on her new path. (Daredevil v2 #111) In the aftermath, she was found by Master Izo who decided to help train her to become an assassin where she developed an ambition to one day rule the Hand. (Daredevil v1 #500)

Lady Bullseye

Battling Kingpin in Daredevil v2 #119.

As Lady Bullseye, she came to join the ranks of the Hand despite being an outsider and served under Lord Hirochi. Around this time, the Hand had splintered between its ninja lords after it was revealed that their leader Elektra was killed and revealed to had been a Skrull infiltrator. Thus, the factions within the ninja cult battled one another as they did not know who to trust. Weeks ago, she was dispatched to New York City by Lord Hirochi where she was tasked with the downfall of Daredevil. Upon arriving, she adopted a civilian identity and began her preparations where she also began observing the activity of other vigilantes in the city. Among these included the Black Tarantula who adopted this new life after his release from prison. She then watched the next test of the superhero Iron Fist Danny Rand where she noted his keen senses. (Daredevil v2 #112) These two heroes along with Wolverine and Master Izo were part of a list of targets set for her by Hirochi. In addition, she was tasked with ensuring that Matt Murdock did not interfere in their operations leading to Lady Bullseye killing some street thugs where she made the lone survivor claim that Daredevil was responsible for the act in an effort to frame the hero. (Daredevil v2 #111) Lady Bullseye posed as attorney Maki Matsumoto and teamed with attorneys at Werner and Block, including David Roth. She convinced the parents of Milla Donovan to place their daughter the blind wife of Daredevil, who had been driven mad by Mister Fear and placed in a mental institution into their own custody, all in a plot to distract Murdock further. She also hired a private investigator to gather intel to work against Matt. (Daredevil v2 #114) Her efforts at first saw her getting scolded by Lord Hirochi who felt that framing Daredevil would alert the hero of their plans but Bullseye claimed to have had the situation under control. She would later ambush the vigilante on the rooftops one night but this was simply an introduction to her and she retreated when Master Izo intervened in their battle. Lady Bullseye then proceeded with her next target which was the White Tiger Angela del Toro who she murdered in her apartment. (Daredevil v2 #113)

Maki Matsumoto and Milla Donovan's parents went to a meeting with Matt Murdock and his attorney, Foggy Nelson, presenting the custody papers for Milla, as well as a copy of old un-filed divorce papers and photos of Matt having sex with Dakota North, who walked in shortly after. When Hiro confronted Lady Bullseye about straying from Hirochi's plans, she killed Hiro. Meanwhile, White Tiger was resurrected in Hirochi's service, then she in turn killed and resurrected Black Tarantula, recruiting him as well. She then had White Tiger and Black Tarantula attack Matt Murdock directly. (Daredevil v2 #114) When Master Izo and Iron Fist got involved in the fight, Lady Bullseye attacked, but she realized that Daredevil was not yet ready for the gift from the Hand. Master Izo shocked her by rushing from the fight, revealing he was going after Lord Hirochi directly, and Lady Bullseye panicked, sending White Tiger and Black Tarantula after him, as Iron Fist rushed after them. Lady Bullseye then sparred with Daredevil, revealing that she'd been clearing away the people in his life so that he would embrace leading the Hand directly. Shocked, Daredevil refused the offer, so Lady Bullseye left him unconscious. She returned and found that Izo had severed Hirochi's hand. Lady Bullseye then accompanied Black Tarantula, White Tiger, and Lord Hirochi to Spain for their back-up plan. (Daredevil v2 #115) Lady Bullseye instructed the Hand to kill the civilian family of the Kingpin in Spain, including Marta, and her children Adriana, and Jaime. The Kingpin killed several Hand ninjas, but not before he was poisoned and paralyzed. Lady Bullseye revealed herself and told him that Daredevil was to blame for all this. She told him to go after Daredevil and tell him that Lady Bullseye had sent him. (Daredevil v2 #116) Hearing that the Owl wanted to meet her, Lady Bullseye took Hand ninjas and ambushed him. The Owl, who was actually working for the Kingpin, said he wanted to hire her to take out his enemies, and she told him her services cost a fortune. (Daredevil v2 #118)

Bullseye

Lady Bullseye then joined an alliance of supervillains operating in Los Angeles. Their operations came under threat after the formation of Kate Bishop’s West Coast Avengers. Thus, they worked to humiliate and break the heroes in order to maintain their activities in the region. Lady Bullseye was tasked with apprehending Kate but was knocked out by the young Avenger who alluded the assassin. (West Coast Avengers v2 #6)
