G.I. Joe Team is an organization that features in G.I. Joe.

History

G.I. Joe Team was the code name for an elite covert special mission unit operating under the control of the United States Military. One of their chief enemies was the ruthless terrorist organisation that was known as Cobra.

Overview

In appearance, it was held as being America's elite counter-terrorist strike force with codename: G.I. Joe being the most fearsome rapid deployment team of all that could operate in any battlefield. One account held that officially the organization was designated as Special Counter – Terrorist Unit Delta. Their battle cry was noted for being "Yo Joe!".

Divisions among the G.I. Joe Team included the:

  • Infantry Trooper : the backbone of G.I. Joe and any of their missions where they provided solid muscle alongside overwhelming firepower. Their training involved studying the enemy in order to anticipate and counteract the enemy's moves. Infantry Troopers provided essential ground and air support where they helped ensure a mission's success through their superior skill along with ferocious determination to win.
  • Steel Brigade : members of the organization's international security force where they were quick to provide regional stability in hot spots around the world. They were held as the backbone of the G.I. Joe forces where they were noted for their dedication and skill. Further training led to them moving up the ranks into more specialised positions. Each combat team consisted of reconnaissance, intelligence, surveillance and target acquisition squadrons with sub-teams of both highly trained military and civilian units. Steel Brigade Delta consisted of a team of mobile battle experts that were specialised in vehicular combat.
  • Pit Commando : elite soldiers that were specialists in combat, reconnaissance and covert operations. Pit Commandos were rigorously trained to use their outstanding expertise to respond to any situation that required immediate response and decisive action.

  • Quarrel : Hedda Pulver was the daughter of a Swiss diplomat who was too busy to spent time with her when she was growing up. To gain his admiration, she devoted her early years into training and excelling in martial arts where she came to be an all-around sportswoman. She came to be the top ranking competitor in the annual British Grand Prix Motorcycle Championships but sought even more exciting ventures leading to her joining the Special Action Force (S.A.F.). Quarrel came to be at the top of her class in undercover ops school and advanced unarmed combat school. Though normally passive, her reflexes allowed her to quickly move into violent situations at any moment where she was skilled in a range of weapons such as a modified crossbow, shuriken throwing stars and Chinese dao butterfly knives.

  • Stiletto : Paithoon Kwaingo was a mysterious woman from Thailand notable for her dead eyes, facial scar and the white streak in her black hair. Stiletto had knife-edged battle skills that made her fellow G.I. Joe members nervous where she joined the team alongside Cobra defect Mercer with her acting as his bodyguard. Her skills only hinted at her Special Forces training where she was proficient in most small arms and bladed weapons.
  • Agent Faces : Michelino J. Paolino was born with a natural talent towards mimicry where he often amused his comrades with his imitations of their superiors during basic training. This was eventually noticed by the first sergeant who had him sent to a top-secret intelligence school in order to learn how to sculpt masks, apply make-up and change his appearance in order to operate as an infiltrator. He eventually came to disguise himself as a Crimson Guard member and infiltrated the Cobra mountain stronghold.
  • Agent Helix : a female covert operations officer with advanced martial arts training and expert marksmanship skills. She was an Olympic-class gymnast who had a distinctive whirlwind attack that was an overpowering combination of kicks and firepower.
  • Natalie Poole : a blonde haired female who was a covert operations specialist from the Special Action Force (S.A.F.) in the United Kingdom. Agent Poole was trained by the British Secret Intelligence Service where she proved to be a natural adventurer and an accomplished martial artist. Both mentally and physically accomplished, she used her skills to intercept any activity that threatened world peace.

  • In G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, G.I. Joe appeared in the setting of the 2009 live-action film. It was revealed that their name was an acronym that stood for the Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity that was a well-funded international force with global funding which used advanced technology and had a base in Egypt.
  • In G.I. Joe: Retaliation, G.I. Joe re-appeared in the setting of the 2013 live-action film sequel.
