Biography
Margaret Alexandra Carter
During these years, she met Alexa Volkoff who was a member of the Daughters of Liberty that were a sisterhood that secretly protected the nation. In this time, Alexa was Peggy's handler and helped train her in defending the country. They came to learn of a secret experiment that involved injecting a volunteer named Steve Rogers with a Super-Soldier Serum. Peggy's assignment was to watch Rogers and to ensure that he did not go rogue. (Captain America v9 #19)
In 1966, she was paired with Sif of Asgard seemingly to assess the Asgardian as a potential recruit. However, in reality, Fury was assessing Agent Carter's ability to operate as a member of S.H.I.E.L.D. (Agent Carter: S.H.I.E.L.D. Anniversary v1 #1)

- Peggy Carter was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby where he first appeared in Tales of Suspense v1 #77 (May, 1966).
Alternate Versions
- In Captain America v2 #12 (1997), a version of Peggy Carter was shown to reside in the Heroes Reborn universe where she married Richard 'Bucky' Barnes. The pair had a son who in turn gave them grandchildren in the form of Rikki Barnes and her brother John Barnes. The fate of Peggy Barnes son was not known but her grandchildren began living with her on this Counter-Earth.
- In Captain America v5 #10 (2005), a version of Peggy Carter was shown to exist in the House of M reality where Mutants eventually controlled he planet. On this reality, Captain America Steve Rogers was never frozen in the Arctic during World War II and he later married her with her becoming Peggy Rogers. She later became an Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. but became embarrassed at her husband's liberal attitudes towards Mutants leading to their eventual divorce in 1957. At some point, she had passed away by the time Mutants controlled Earth but she was on the thoughts of her surviving spouse Steve Rogers.
- In Spider-Gwen v2 #2 (2015), an alternate world designated Earth-65 that was home to Spider-Woman had its own version of Peggy Carter. Agent Carter was part of the Strategic Scientific Reserve (SSR) and headed Project Rebirth that was sabotaged by Nazi spies but one of its candidates namely Samantha T. Wilson underwent the process to become the supersoldier Captain America in World War II. Carter worked with Captain America until she was lost in another dimension for 75 years. In the aftermath, Carter established S.H.I.E.L.D. as a peacekeeping force for the world.
- In Exiles v3 #3 (2018), an alternate version of Peggy Carter was shown to exist in a reality in the Multiverse. On her world, Steve Rogers was killed leading to Peggy Carter being chosen to go through the Super-Soldier process making her Captain America where she was assisted by an Irish sidekick named Becky as they battled the Red Skull during World War II.

- In The Marvel Super Heroes, Peggy Carter appeared in the animated Captain America segments where she as voiced by actor Peg Dixon.
- In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Peggy Carter made a number of appearances in the shared continuity setting.
- In Agent Carter, the character was the protoganist of the series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with her being portrayed again by actor Hayley Atwell.
- In Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Peggy Carter made a small appearance during a flashback sequence in the live-action series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe where she was portrayed by actor Hayley Atwell.
- In Avengers Assemble, Peggy Carter appeared in the setting of the animated television series where she was referenced but seen first in the episode "New Year's Resolution" with her being voiced by actor Hayley Atwell. She was shown to be operating on New Years' Eve in 1949 alongside Howard Stark where she managed to capture Doctor Faustus who she kept in the trunk of her car as she intended to hand him over to the authorities. During transit, their vehicle was brought to the present when they were attacked by Kang the Conqueror's robots that were dressed as Hydra agents. These machines were dispatched to eliminate Howard Stark as Kang intended to eliminate the bloodline to prevent the birth of his hated enemy Iron Man 2020. Captain America and Iron Man worked together to defeat Kang allowing for Peggy and Howard to return to their respective time period.

- In Captain America: The First Avenger, the character made her debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe where she was portrayed by actor Hayley Atwell.
- In Ant-Man, the character returned in another appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe where she as again portrayed by actor Hayley Atwell.
Video games
- In Captain America: Super Soldier, Peggy Carter played a supporting role in the video game where she was voiced by actor Hayley Atwell.
- In Marvel: Puzzle Quest, an alternate version of Peggy Carter was shown that was visually based on actor Hayley Atwell. This version came from a version of history where Steve Rogers died during the Super-Soldier Program before he could become Captain America. As a result, Peggy Carter volunteered for the project and became that worlds version of Captain America who fought in World War II.
- In Marvel: Future Fight, an alternate dimension version of Peggy Carter was shown. On that world, Captain America was never frozen in ice and after the Allied victory in World War II he married Peggy Carter. She was later stationed in S.H.I.E.L.D.s South Korea peacekeeping mission. Peggy and Steve also had a daughter named Sharon Rogers who operated as Captain America on her world.
