• Lord of the Rings: c. 4161 BC (III 2901). Ithilien is abandoned in the wake of numerous Uruk attacks from Mordor. Henneth Annun is constructed. (The Return of the King)

• Lord of the Rings: c. 4155 BC (III 2907). Gilraen is born. (The Return of the King)

• Lord of the Rings: c. 4151 BC (III 2911). During the Fell Winter, many rivers are frozen over and White Wolves attack Eriador. (The Return of the King)

• Lord of the Rings: c. 4131 BC (III 2931). Aragorn is born on March 1. (The Return of the King)

• Lord of the Rings: c. 4129 BC (III 2933). Arathorn II is killed; Gilraen takes the young Aragorn to Imladris, where he becomes Elrond's foster son. Elrond renames him "Estel," and hides his past from him. (The Return of the King)

• Lord of the Rings: c. 4123 BC (III 2939). Saruman realizes that Sauron has learned about the circumstances of Isildur's death when the Dark Lord sends his servants to search the Gladden Fields; however, he keeps this information from the White Council. (The Return of the King)

• Lord of the Rings: c. 4121 BC (III 2941). Thorin II and Gandalf meet Bilbo Baggins, and take him on an adventure. During his journey with Thorin and his fellow-dwarves, Bilbo finds the One Ring and meets Gollum in the Misty Mountains. Gandalf meets with the White Council, where Saruman approves an attack on Dol Guldur (in order to interrupt Sauron's search for the One Ring), but Sauron leaves Dol Guldur. In Dale, the Battle of the Five Armies occurs. Smaug is slain by Bard. Dain II becomes king. (The Hobbit; The Return of the King)

• Lord of the Rings: c. 4120 BC (III 2942). Bilbo Baggins returns to the Shire with the One Ring. Sauron goes back to Mordor. (The Return of the King)

• Lord of the Rings: c. 4118 BC (III 2944). Dale is rebuilt by Bard of Esgaroth, who becomes its king. Gollum leaves the Misty Mountains to find his "precious." (The Return of the King)

• Lord of the Rings: c. 4114 BC (III 2948). Theoden is born in Rohan. (The Return of the King)

• Lord of the Rings: c. 4113 BC (III 2949). Bilbo Baggins is visited by Gandalf and Balin. (The Return of the King)

• Lord of the Rings: c. 4112 BC (III 2950). Finduilas of Dol Amroth is born. (The Return of the King)

• Lord of the Rings: c. 4111 BC (III 2951). Sauron, having made his return known to the world, begins the reconstruction of Barad-dur and sends three of the Nazgul to Dol Guldur. Gollum begins heading for Mordor. Estel's true identity is revealed to him by Elrond, who also gives him the shards of Narsil. Aragorn leaves for the wilderness; as he goes, he meets Arwen in Imladris. (The Return of the King)

• Lord of the Rings: c. 4109 BC (III 2953). In what becomes the White Council's final meeting, they discuss the Rings of Power. Saruman, still seeking the One Ring for himself, lies to the Council, telling them it was swept into the sea. After the Council ends, Saruman returns to Isengard, and begins to fortify it; he also sets up a network of spies to watch over Gandalf and any of his interests- including the Shire. • Lord of the Rings: c. 4108 BC (III 2954). After Mount Doom begins flaming once more, the remaining people of Ithilien flee. (The Return of the King)

• Lord of the Rings: c. 4106 BC (III 2956). Aragorn meets Gandalf for the first time. (The Return of the King)

• Lord of the Rings: c. 4105 BC (III 2957). Aragorn takes the name "Thorongil," and enters the service of King Thengel of Rohan. Later, "Thorongil" will leave to serve Ecthelion II, Steward of Gondor. (The Return of the King)
