- Lord of the Rings: c. 4121 BC (III 2941). Thorin II and Gandalf meet Bilbo Baggins, and take him on an adventure. During his journey with Thorin and his fellow-dwarves, Bilbo finds the One Ring and meets Gollum in the Misty Mountains. Gandalf meets with the White Council, where Saruman approves an attack on Dol Guldur (in order to interrupt Sauron's search for the One Ring), but Sauron leaves Dol Guldur. - Lord of the Rings: c. 4109 BC (III 2953). In what becomes the White Council's final meeting, they discuss the Rings of Power. Saruman, still seeking the One Ring for himself, lies to the Council, telling them it was swept into the sea. After the Council ends, Saruman returns to Isengard, and begins to fortify it; he also sets up a network of spies to watch over Gandalf and any of his interests- including the Shire. - Lord of the Rings: c. 4108 BC (III 2954). After Mount Doom begins flaming once more, the remaining people of Ithilien flee. (The Return of the King)
- Lord of the Rings: c. 4106 BC (III 2956). Aragorn meets Gandalf for the first time. (The Return of the King)
- Lord of the Rings: c. 4105 BC (III 2957). Aragorn takes the name "Thorongil," and enters the service of King Thengel of Rohan. Later, "Thorongil" will leave to serve Ecthelion II, Steward of Gondor. (The Return of the King)
