Bitores Mendez

Bitores Mendenz was the chief of the village near Ramon Salazar's castle, and a pawn of Osmund Saddler. He was an absolutely gigantic man with a bald head and a long black beard, often seen wearing a long black overcoat. Like everyone else in the village, Mendez was a member of the Los Illuminados cult and infected with a Las Plagas parasite that gave him supernatural strength and agility. He had a false eye which contained a special code, which he used on a retinal scanner at the gates of Salazar's castle to gain entry.

He was first encountered by Leon S. Kennedy in his home in the village, during which time he almost killed Kennedy but instead opted to spare his life because he had the "same blood" as him and the others (Leon had been infected with Las Plagas by Saddler). However this did not stop Mendez from hurriedly changing his mind when Leon tried to follow him. Once again, Leon was almost killed, saved this time by the sudden appearance of Ada Wong. Mendez then forgot about Leon and pursued Ada, eventually knocking her out with a blowdart. She later escaped, though. Mendez came into conflict with Leon a second and final time whent he hulking chieftain attempted to prevent the former cop from gaining access to the grounds of Salazar's estate, transforming into a hulking, centipede-like Las Plagas monster and fighting him in a burning building. Leon emerged victorious, however, and used Mendez's false eye to enter Salazar's castle.
