Biography

Dawn Marie Summers

In reality, she was originally a mystical relic called the Key that was a concentration of living energy capable of shattering the veil between dimensions. It was in the care of the Order of Dagon who looked to protect it from the hell goddess Glorificus who intended to use it to escape Earth to return to her home dimension. In 2000, the monks felt that they were failing in their duty as they were incapable of protecting it from their foe. Thus, they used magic to transform the Key into human form and sent it to the Slayer for protection from Glory. (Episode: Blood Ties) In this altered reality, Dawn Summers was said to had been born in 1986 in Los Angeles where she became Buffy's younger sister. (Episode: The Weight of the World) According to Buffy's recollection, Dawn was deeply upset at their parent's divorce and cried for a week when Hank left. (Episode: Family) The family later came to Sunnydale where Dawn celebrated her 10th birthday party by riding a merry-go-round her mother had hired as she had yet to befriend any new kids in town. (Episode: Shadow)

In 2001, Dawn started to become suspicious of the Scooby Gang conversations about her where unknown to her they had become aware of her true origins. (Episode: Checkpoint)
