History
Godwatch was a secret organization headed by Veronica Cale which she managed through her company Empire Industries. (Wonder Woman v5 #9) Its origin was traced to the modern day when the gods Deimos and Phobos of the Olympian Gods targeted Cale in an effort to use her as a means of freeing their father Ares from his prison. They came to appear before Veronica's daughter Isadore Cale and stole her face in order force her mother's compliance. The gods of fear and terror wanted her to use her resources to help break their father free from his cell underneath Themyscira. However, the island had disappeared and they believed the only way to find it was through the Amazon Wonder Woman. (Wonder Woman v5 #16) Part of this plot led to the death of Cale's best friend Dr. Adrianna Anderson when using the Cyberwalker System. Remnants of her mind were used to create an A.I. construct that came to take the name Doctor Cyber who provided technical assistance to Godwatch. Afterwards, Cale and Doctor Cyber were instrumental in ensuring that Dr. Barbara Ann Minerva was transformed into the Cheetah. (Wonder Woman v5 #18)
Following the success of Echo Team, the god Urzkartaga was captured and contained within a potted plant where he was brought into custody before their operative Sasha Bordeaux who was the head of A.R.G.U.S.. Upon learning of the acquisition, Cale had her agent make steps to acquire the captured god. (Wonder Woman v5 #9)
The depowered Barbara Ann Minerva later travelled to Godwatch where she met with Veronica Cale who offered her a return of her powers as the Cheetah with the exception that she would no longer be tied to Urzkartaga. At first, she refused but Cale threatened to have her friends killed leading to Barbara reluctantly agreeing to the terms. (Wonder Woman v5 #17)
