The U.S.S. Grissom was the name of two Starfleet vessels.
U.S.S. Grissom (NCC-638)
A science vessel of the United Federation of Planets, Oberth-class. The Grissom, commanded by Captain J.T. Esteban, investigated the Genesis Planet in 2285. However, after beaming Dr. David Marcus and Lt. Saavik to the planet, the Grissom was destroyed by a Klingon vessel seeking to claim Genesis for the Klingon Empire.
U.S.S. Grissom (NCC-42857)
An Excelsior-class United Federation of Planets vessel which stood ready to assist the U.S.S. Enterprise-D during its attempts to deal with tricyanate contamination on Beta Agni II.
