Jon Vander

Jon "Dutch" Vander was a former Imperial pilot who defected to the Rebel Alliance. He flew as Gold Leader during the Battle of Yavin and led the first run through the Death Star's trench. As he was targetting the thermal exhaust port, Darth Vader swooped down in his TIE Fighter and shot his X-Wing, blowing him up, even as one of his wingmen, "Pops" Krail, urged him, "Stay on target!"
