Keith White

Keith White is a male anime and manga character who features in Project ARMS.

Biography

Keith White (Japanese: キースホワイト, Hebpburn: Kīsuhowaito?) was a male human scientist who lived in the 20th century where he came to join the ranks of the mysterious organization known as the Egrigori.

In 1940, he was in Gallows Bell that was a town in Arizona when a meteorite was excavated. It then proceeded to change from a simple roughly spherical rock to a terrifying statue covered in depictions of the horrified faces and hands of the men who dug it from the ground. This meteorite was an alien form of life that came to be known as Azazel that was made of naturally occurring nanomachines. In time, the Egrigori became slowly but surely obsessed with it, with one of their scientists being Keith White whose fixation on it was more than anyone else. Through inhuman experimentation and amoral research methods funded by Egrigori and headed by

Keith White then laid the foundations for his future work. In this time, a young researcher who was a genius girl called Alice pioneered a means to contact Azazel and establish a way to communicate with the alien intelligence. Shortly afterwards, they made an attempt at communication with it and out of compassion tired to free a group of research subject from Egrigori. Alice came to be brutally killed in the process whereupon Azazel reached out and merged with Alice’s dying body to become something new. All was left was a set of four small sphere and one large sphere that became the core for the combined Alice/Azazel entity. From these four spheres came the cores of ARMS, containing four faces of Alice’s will. Ultimately, they failed to tame the power of these ARMs. A part of these experiments he created the Keith Series which were a number of clones based on him. These subjects were designed to be compatible for bond with the ARMS.

Later on, Keith White came to be killed by Keith Black shortly after the successful implantation of Black's ARMS unit. He does not resist or try to run, he simply basked in his own feeling of accomplishment as the fruition of his experiments kills him. In actuality, Keith White was laying semi-dormant inside of Keith Black for 20 years and was subtly influencing him and gaining more control as time went on. Over the decades, he watched as Keith Black killed the ARMs test subjects Hayato Shingu's family. Afterwards, the ARMs children were being targeted by the Egrigori where they banded together to fight the secret organization. During this time, Katsumi Akagi was seemingly killed though she was actually kidnapped and taken as a hostage by the group. In response, the Egrigori staged a large assault against Aisora City with this being overseen by Keith Red though he was ultimately killed against Hayato Shingu. However, the Egrigori led by Keith Black revealed themselves to the ARMs children who decided to travel to the United States to combat them directly.

The stump merged into Black's body after which he opened his eyes. When he stood up though it was no longer Keith Black but rather Keith White. Having absorbed powers from his clone children with the ARMS Humpty Dumpty, he planned to absorb Jabberwock's power to become immortal. To do that, he planned to subject Ryou to utmost despair by tricking Ryou into killing Katsumi using Green's space-manipulating ability. The battle in Manhattan draws to a climax, as Keith White launched 'Program Jabberwock' on a terrible path of destruction. Seeing blood on his hand and Katsumi being taken into the giant Azazel, Ryou's grief overflowed until Jabberwock was fully in total control. Keith White is flying over the island, satisfied with how things are progressing. Takeshi was shaken by what he sees, but Alice holds his hand and convinces him to continue. To White's astonishment, White Rabbit dives into Jabberwock, and stops a phantom Ryou from attacking Knight and Kei. Keith White, confident that his plan is on the way to being accomplished, was attacked by both Violet and Blue whilst in Alice's world Ryou was stopped by Gryphon and Mad Hatter. They pounce on him, but Knight and White Rabbit arrived in order to drive them away. Kei too had arrived, accompanied by the other, far less vindictive Alice. Jabberwock speaks for himself this time, saying that he's always lived with despair. But it is merely a program. He knows now what he wants for himself - to destroy the hateful world Alice has created, and that was what he proceeded to do. Transforming into March Hare, Violet attacked Keith White who began using Silver's laser to cut her down, whilst Iwao jumped to the rescue. Blue activated his ARMS which was the Dormouse with the transformation being for both the first and last time due to the strain placed on his body. Blue then projected a rain of needle-like missiles at White, who simply waved them away, even as the missiles explode. White called forth his ARMS Humpty Dumpty where he returned Dormouse's missiles back to its sender, and then stabbed Blue with Black's weapon. In response, Blue tackled White causing both of them to tumble together into a chasm as the Dormouse detonated himself along with Humpty Dumpty. At the same time, the giant Jabberwock standing on Karion Island erupted into pieces. Thus, it appeared that Keith White was killed as a result of the attack with his plans being thwarted.

Overview

Personality and attributes

In appearance, he was a white male with short blonde hair and noted for his young features. After his rebirth, he gained the powers and abilities of the ARMS Humpy Dumpty. This allowed him to transform into that body to access its full powers where he gained a distinct and strange form of a shadowy humanoid creature with long cylindrical arms.

It was said that he hated the colour blue as it represented despair, sadness and melancholy. This was the reason he never assigned it to any of his clones.

Keith White was one of the founding members of Egrigori along with Doctor Samuel Tillinghast. Unlike Dr. Tillinghast, Keith White had no sense of morality or respect for human life. His only interest in humans was as research subjects. White was shown to use children as test subjects for painful, unethical and deadly experiments. In one case, his test subject Alice asked if she and the children could just see the outside world for a second which resulted in Keith hitting her. He later had all of the child test subjects shot when Alice attempted to escape to see the outside world. Alice being shot later led to her merger with an alien lifeform Azazel. Despite this, White showed absolutely no sorrow or regret over his actions. Even when a colleague denounced the experiments as unethical Keith White responded by simply laughing at him. His philosophy to scientific research gave absolutely no concern to the means as long as the ends were accomplished. He had no compunctions against beating Alice when she asked to let the ARMS test subjects see the outside and only showed concern when she had been shot because he was losing a valuable research subject and key member of his research team.

Keith White is the head of a research group that uses humans—usually children—as test subjects for painful, unethical and often deadly experiments. When Alice asks if she and the children could just see the outside world for a second, he hits her, then he has all of the children shot, which leads to Alice being shot and merged with an alien lifeform, something which he shows absolutely no sorrow or regret over. When a colleague denounces the experiments as unethical, Keith laughs at him. Then, he creates multiple child clones of himself and implants them with nanotechnology, causing most to turn into monsters and die painfully. Even later, he shows up, taking over Keith Black's body and is thrilled at the thought of Alice launching a nuclear missile and driving the Jabberwock to blow up America with anti-matter. When Keith Violet tries to talk him out of it, he tosses her off of a building. He also kidnaps Katsumi, possessed by Alice, to get her to be taken over by the ARMS Bandersnatch and freeze the entire world.

Even towards his own clones he showed little compassion or concern to the ones that died in Egrigori's experiments. He felt false pity towards Keith Black stating that the clone had misunderstood everything White had told him.

The ultimate goal of Keith White was to become a god by merging with Azazel and the Earth itself. He had waited so long for the completion of his goals. This included the moment Jabberwock killed Black which would bring about his own resurrection.

Powers and abilities

Originally, Keith White was an ordinary human being though one of high intelligence. His genetic material was used as a base for all of the clones in the Keith Series. After his 'death' by Keith Black, he was absorbed into the clones bodies through his ARMS. Once there, he waited for the time to be reborn and took possession of Keith Black's body. This led to him gaining all the powers of the clone including the use of his ARMS which was Humpty Dumpty with this being all according to White's plans. The most strange of all the ARMS, appearance-wise, Humpty Dumpty takes form of a shadowy humanoid creature with long, cylindrical arms. This shadow-like exterior acts as a formidable armor, capable to absorb and nullify other ARMS attacks. This made him impervious to harm though he gained another ability which was to assimilate any attacks made against him. A consequence of this was him gaining control over all other ARMS powers and abilities. It was shown that Keith White seemed to show slightly more mastery over Humpty Dumpty than Keith Black as he was able to compensate for Ryo's immunities and out strategise him. He also showed the ability to fly through the use of branched, wing-like structures grown from his back.

With Humpty Dumpty's powers, White managed to gain a number of powers from the other ARMs subjects starting from those implanted in the Keith Series. These included Green's teleportation, Violet's Evil Eye of Balor, Red's hypervibrations, Silver's Brionic Spear and later on Blue's Tathlums explosive spikes. He was shown to be quite skilled in their use with White able to use some of these abilities in his human form. An example of this was the space-time manipulation powers of the Cheshire Cat. It was shown that he could use this power to even trick his opponents such as teleporting someone else in the path of an attack aimed for White. This combined with Humpty Dumpty's own powers meant he could avoid harm from enemy attacks whilst employing these abilities against his foes.

White was one of the leading figures of the Egrigori organization. As such, he commanded the immense resources of the secret organization with no oversight on his activities. This allowed him to conduct human experiments with impunity and develop living weapons created from test subjects.
