History

Magnostadt (Japanese: マグノシュタット, Hepburn: Magunoshutatto) was a small country that was located in the world. Originally, it was known as the Musta'sim Kingdom (ムスタシム王国, Musutashimu Ōkoku) where it was a nation ruled by non-magical individuals but had a large pool of magicians that served them. Despite their power, the magicians were treated as disposable individuals by the ruling classes who sent them to aid in various tasks. These including missions such as conjuring rain to water crops, healing the sickly, helping remove rubble or other such menial tasks. Such assignments often led to the magicians drawing on their own Magoi which drained them and led to highly casualty rate among their ranks after being drained of their life force in the act of casting their spells. Their service to their people eventually did lead to the magicians receiving title and hailed as heroes among the people with this drawing the ire of the ruling elite. Around this time, a plague afflicted the Musta'sim Kingdom that killed many people and where even the healing magic of the magicians failing to stop it. This caused the citizens to blame the magicians for the resultant deaths with the nobility encouraging these views. As a result, the magicians became ostracised by the people they served and forced into exile from the kingdom. Many years later, Musta'sim faced the threat of war from the neighbouring Parthevian Empire leading to the ruling elite drafting the magicians back into service once more to fight as warriors. Seen as disposable warriors, many of the magicians died for their kingdom and treated callously by the rulers of the nation. The treatment of his kind infuriated Matal Mogamett who saw non-magical individuals as being a cruel people and vowed to forge a nation of magicians that would rule their own kind. Thus, he orchestrated a rebellion against the Musta'sim Dynasty where he had the nobility and royal family killed. Among the only survivors of this coup was Princess Dunya Musta'sim who managed to escape where she vowed to return and reclaim the kingdom. In the meantime, Mogamett came to reform the country into the magical kingdom of Magnostadt that was reshaped into a society according to his own vision. Around 12 years ago, the Magician's Country was visited by Ithnan who represented a mysterious organisation. They revealed to Mogamett the existence of Djinn and of Magic Vessels with the two working together to study them. Years of magical research led to the sides developing Dark Djinn and Black Metal Vessels. Relations soured between the two allies though when Al-Thamen began equipping non-magic individuals with these items which included Dunya Musta'sim. This ultimately led to talks between Magnostadt and Al-Thamen breaking down with the two breaking ties with one another. Director Mogamett though continued his research into weapon based magic tools with inferior prototypes of these weapons being sold on the black market to generate a profit whilst they kept the perfected weapons for themselves.

Secretly, their country was infiltrated by two individuals with one being the magi Aladdin and the other being a spy from the Reim Empire named Alexius Titus. Mogamett was aware that the two had ulterior motives for arriving at Magnostadt though was only aware of Alexius's ties to Reim. Aladdin and Alexius later uncovered the hidden existence of the 5th level within Magnostadt with Director Mogamett revealing its nature to the students of the academy as well as the history of the kingdom. Thus, he rationalised the treatment of non-magic humans over their treatment of magician's in the past. Around this time, Alexius had a personal meeting with Mogamett to beg his aid as he revealed that he was an artificial clone created by the Reim high priestess Scheherazade. With his identity exposed, Scheherazade demanded his return but Mogamett freed Alexius from the priestess's control with this being considered an act of war against Reim. This declaration of hostilities was partly because Reim's goals of expansion meant that Magnostadt was their next target and also because they wanted to keep the Magician's Country out of the hands of the Kou Empire. Thus, the Reim army had gathered and declared war against the nation of Magnostadt who defiantly opposed these conquerors. Infantry divisions amassed outside the Magnostadt barriers where they were attacked by the magicians whose use of magic outclassed the enemy. Despite that, Reim revealed their next weapon which was the use of science where they had created powerful explosives to assault the barrier. This forced the magicians to go into close quarters where they destroyed many of the Reim units but not before the barrier was taken down. As a result, the magicians deployed their elite ranks to deal with the enemy which caused heavy casualties amongst the Reim forces. Demoralised, the enemy faced near defeat until the Fanalis Corps was deployed onto the field where the elite soldiers of the empire came to make short work of Magnostadt's defenders and defensive lines. In fact, they nearly destroyed the final barrier of Magnostadt had not the magi Aladdin intervened into the battle to defend the magician's country.

Overview

Under the Musta'sim Dynasty, it was originally a nation ruled by non-magical beings with groups of magicians who were forced to serve the kingdom's rulers. Due to its high number of magicians, it came to also be known as the Magician's Country.

Locations in the country included:

  • Academy City :
  • Magnostadt Academy :
  • 1st Level Authorization District :
  • 2nd Level Authorization District :
  • 3rd Level Authorization District :
  • 4th Level Authorization District :
  • 5th Level Authorization District :

It was noted for discriminating against non-magicians who were called goi.

Their society was divided into different tiers which included:

  • 1st Level Citizenship : consisting of the high magicians and the chancellor of the Magnostadt Academy with this numbering 500 people.
  • 2nd Level Citizenship : consisting of most magical nationals and the students of the magical academy with them numbering 3,000 people.
  • 3rd Level Citizenship : consisting of all Gois whose parents were magicians along with those that had technical skills, belonged to the army or worked for the government with them 20,000 people.

As a result of past experiences, the magician's of Magnostadt had a dim view of those possessing no magic. Entry was only allowed to Magicians except for a few special exemptions with the kingdom preventing anyone from entering its borders in order to manage its population. Those who wished to enter must pass the Country Entrance Examination wherein one must perform the defensive spell Borg that was seen as proof of the person being a Magician.

Elite magicians were said to be the equivalent of an entire army division.

A magical barrier was noted to had been created that surrounded the kingdom that kept trespassers out.

The magician's of Magnostadt also experimented in the creation of magic tools. These were objects that were empowered by magic and could be used to achieve different feats. These were used for a variety of tasks including the distribution of water around the town, production of vegetables for the agriculture and flying carpets to carry goods.

Inhabitants

  • Dunya Musta'sim : the green-haired princess of the Musta'sim Kingdom who was among the only survivors of the coup that reformed the country into Magnostadt. She came to be an operative of Al-Thamen where she was corrupted by Black Rukh but was freed from it by Aladdin though despite her freedom she died from the damage caused to her body.
  • Matal Mogamett : a magician under the Musta'sim Dynasty who was married and had a daughter where he faithfully served the rulers of his country. This was despite the fact that the nobility's demands on the magicians led to the death of his wife whose Magoi was expended from overusing her magic. Despite her death, he often told his daughter that as magicians they had a duty to bring good to the world. Years later, he was drafted to fight in the war against the Parthevian Empire where he saw his daughter die as she fought as a magical soldier in it. This combined seeing how the non-magical nobility treat his kind resulted in Matal rebelling against the ruling dynasty. He was responsible for toppling their rule and reforming it into Magnostadt where the magicians ruled. At some point, he took in an orphaned young girl named Yamraiha who he saw as a daughter and helped train her to be a magician.
  • Yamraiha : a young green-haired human female born to a can that had served the Musta'sim Royal Family for generations though her birth indicated that she was a strong Magician which meant that she was on the verge of being killed. However, she was abducted by Matal Mogamett where he became her mentor but hid her past from her where Yamraia saw him as a father figure. When she was old enough though she became more suspicious and even afraid of him lading to her leaving the kingdom where she met Sinbad and became a member of his Eight Generals.
