Biography

Miek was born on the planet Sakaar as a member of the native race of insectoid beings that populated that world. He was one of many of a hive ruled by his father who was awarded his territory for his service during the Spike Wars. However, new laws stated that no brood may reside within a thousand spans of the capital and the local Imperials sought to enforce this edict leading to him exterminating the hive. Miek witnessed his parent die in those moments along with the apparent death of all his siblings whilst he was taken into slavery. During that time, he grew to adulthood where he was treated poorly by the ruling Imperials on Sakaar. (Incredible Hulk v2 #96)

He was one of a number of Natives that were captured and taken to the capital where they were placed in a gladiatorial fight in a battle for their lives for the Red King's enjoyment. During the fight, the other Natives rejected Miek for being an outcast unhived but he attempted to save them from a Great Devil Corker. They were ultimately saved by the green-skinned new arrival called the Hulk. The Jade Giant was then defeated by the Red King whose guards shot him from behind after the Hulk managed to cut the Sakaaran leader. He then had him along with Miek sent to the Maw as punishment for their defiance. (Incredible Hulk v2 #92) Once there, the governor had the prisoners being sent into gladiatorial matches against one another with Miek along with the other Natives assigned to the same team as Hulk. Once there, they fought against a team of Imperial Sakaarans headed by a Kronan named Korg with their fight being joined by a group of Brood. Casualties were experienced by all the sides with the other Natives being killed and the survivors of the fight were then brought together to make a new team. (Incredible Hulk v2 #93)

After emerging from his cocoon, his kin began to refer to him as 'king Miek' where he intended to ensure the Hulk did not leave as he wanted his continued aid in fighting the Sakaaran Imperials. However, the Hulk brushed him aisde leading to a confrontation between the pair that only ended when Korg got in-between the two to stop further fighting. (Incredible Hulk v2 #98) The pair set aside their differences when an infestation of Spikes emerged that threatened to consume all organic life on the continent. During this time, he found the last Native Queen who was in captivity in the farming of village of Am-sara by the Imperials. (Incredible Hulk v2 #99) Miek tended to the last Queen but she had been infected by the Spikes and was transformed as a result despite attempts at saving her thus forcing him to torch her body. (Incredible Hulk v2 #100)

Miek later learnt that several Earthlings had been responsible for killing Hivelings with this infuriating him and he wanted revenge for their deaths. Checking on the Brood Queen, he discovered a human named Humbug and attacked with the intention of killing the perceived intruder. However, the Queen convinced him that Humbug was an ally of bugs and would aid in turning the Earth into a planet ruled by insects. Thus, Miek was convinced to let him live but that he reveal who had killed the Hivelings. This led to the capture of Humbug's Heroes for Hire team mates where he claimed that Tarantula was the killer though Colleen Wing similarly claimed responsibility for the deaths. Humbug then had both humans taken away whilst Miek decided to have the two culprits suffer a cruel death for their perceived murder of Hivelings. (Heroes for Hire v2 #13)

He then urged the Green Scar to kill his captives and was surprised when the Hulk refused to do so as he simply wanted to humble them in order for them to be acknowledged for their crimes. It was then that the Sentry arrived at the scene who battled the Hulk with their battle devastating the city. Miek was pleased at the thought of everyone dying in the battle and that only the Green Scar would survive. Their fight ended when the two foes expended their energies thus turning them into their respective human forms with Bruce Banner landing the final hit to knock Robert Reynolds unconscious. Hostilities then seemed to cease with Rick Jones attempting to reach his friend Banner to calm himself and further conflict. This infuriated Miek who stabbed the human and wounded him badly with this triggering Banner's transformation back into the Hulk who struck at the Sakaaran Native. Miek then revealed he truth that he was responsible for detonating the warp drive on Sakaar thus killing Caiera and so many others. This revelation caused the Hulk to rampage out of control in a rage until Earth's heroes used a satellite weapon to depower him by turning him back into Bruce Banner. (World War Hulk v1 #5) Afterwards, he was arrested and locked away in Prison 42 within the Negative Zone with S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Kate Waynesboro interrogating him about information on his former comrades in the Warbound with Miek gladly revealing their pasts. (World War Hulk Aftersmash: Warbound v1 #1)

Around this time, his body experienced some changes for unknown reasons as he developed the capacity to reproduce. The eggs he laid hatched into offspring but these died before they could undergo the second stage of metamorphosis. Miek came to escape from S.H.I.E.L.D. custody and fled into the Savage Land's where he continued his efforts at trying to reproduce. This eventually saw him preying on the surviving Imperial Sakaarans in the area and having them fed to the offspring but still they failed to survive. Ultimately, he determined that perhaps a more potent host could allow them to prosper and made a deal with the elder of the Imperial Sakaaran village. In exchange for the Green Scar, Miek would end his attacks on the village with the elder agreeing to the terms. The village then called upon the Green Scar's aid with the Warbound arriving at the scene and the Sakaaran drugged them in order to allow Miek's chemmed bugs to abduct the Hulk. He then infested his flesh with some of his offspring in the hope that they could survive till the metamorphosis. As the Hulk's friends sought to save him, the Green Scar gradually grew strong and stronger from his rage thus breaking the mind control Miek had over him. Miek eventually revealed to the Warbound that he wanted his offspring to survive and when Skaar showed mercy he decided to have his children feast on both the Hulk and his son. This saw the angry Hulk smash Miek into the mountains but despite his anger he attempted to save him though the Sakaaran Bug refused and allowed himself to fall into the collapsing ground with him laughing as he seemingly died. (Incredible Hulks v1 #625)
