History

The Nasty Boys were a gang of Human Mutants that operated on Earth. (X-Factor v1 #74) It was shown that they had some ties to Mister Sinister who was known to hire them. Mister Sinister later met with the Nasty Boys to give them their next assignment but Ruckus and Ramrod were not at their base. When they returned, they were joined by Madrox as Sinister introduced the Nasty Boys to Senator Steven Shaffran. The Nasty Boys then confronted X-Factor where Madrox and his corrupt dupe merged but the real Jamie re-asserted his dominance inside their shared body. He came to re-absorb the renegade dupe and learned that Mister Sinister had been influencing the dupe to take the place of Jamie Prime. Through this Jamie learned Sinister and the Nasty Boys’ plans that revealed that X-Factor’s political nemesis Senator Shaffran, was a Mutant named Ricochet and that he was working with Sinister. In addition, they were responsible for Quicksilver's recent health problems. X-Factor defeated the Nasty Boys at the capitol building and managed to take them into custody. Meanwhile, Havok and Multiple Man confronted Senator Shaffran who was really a disguised Sinister and had acted like a maniac before fleeing. Shaffran's reputation was ruined and he was outted as a Mutant to the public. The real Shaffran then tried to shoot Sinister for betraying him, only to catch a bullet in the head on the ricochet when his shot bounced off his target. (X-Factor v1 #75)

The Nasty Boys were taken into custody following their first appearance and battle in Washington DC. Ramrod was subsequently deported from the U.S. due to his immigrant status. Both Hairbag and Slab were rescued from prison by the Mutant Liberation Front (MLF). Sinister collected Hairbag from them, but Slab stayed with the MLF for several weeks to spend time with his sister who happened to be an MLF member named Thumbelina. (X-Factor v1 #78) The five members of the Nasty Boys are reunited when Sinister orders them to capture and kill former Marauder Malice. Malice interrupts the Hawaiian vacation of Havok and his girlfriend Lorna Dane in order to kill the latter mutant, whom she feared she may be forced to bond to permanently. The Nasty Boys have a hard time controlling the situation, as Malice continues to jump back and forth between Alex and Lorna. She uses their considerable powers against anyone in her way. Both Alex and Lorna are willing to die in order to end Malice once and for all, and their combined willpower forces Malice to be stuck between them. This allows Sinister to trap her. The Boys get away, as their battle does not draw the attention of the local authorities until after their getaway. (X-Factor v1 #105)

Later, Ruckus appears at a speech given by Senator Kelly in an attempt to assassinate the senator. The X-Men stopped Ruckus leading to him being placed into custody. (X-Men Forever v1 #1) Ruckus was apparently able to evade custody as he was seen attending the X-Cise clinic as a client in the hope of receiving the mutant cure, however this was all a scheme by the Red Skull. Joined with Ramrod, Ruckus later travelled to England and attempted to rob banks but both were arrested. (X-Men: Legacy v2 #11) By the time of the Terrigen Mist crisis, they were operating a Mutant Growth Hormone illegal harvest business at San Francisco's Chinatown. Psylocke tracked down the location as it was listed as a target in Magneto's files of threats to Mutants. (Uncanny X-Men v4 #15) The Nasty Boys were later hunted down and killed by the Upstarts, in order to lure out Cyclops and his ragtag team of X-Men to Washington Heights. After a brief moment of words, the two groups engaged each other in battle with the X-Men gaining the upper-hand. (Uncanny X-Men v5 #20)
