Biography
Origin
Ororo Munroe was a female Mutant of African descent where she was the daughter of photojournalist David Munroe and a Princess named N'Dare. Her father came to propose to her mother in her homeland when she was with her tribe in Kenya whereupon they moved to Harlem, New York City in 1951. Their daughter was then born there where her mother had known she was special since her conception. The family they bade their home goodbye as they moved to Cairo where they lived there for the next 5 years until 1956 during the Suez War. The fighting came near the Munroe residence where her father planned to take his wife and daughter to safety at the American embassy. However, before they could do so, a French bomber was shot down and crashed into the house killing David Munroe and N'Dare leaving their child Ororo orphaned and buried under the rubble. When she was 12 years old, she felt an inner need that pulled her to the south that took her away from Egypt and the Sahara. This saw her walking for a year where she covered two thousand miles to the Serengati Plain. (X-Men v1 #102)
In Kenya, she was petitioned by villagers whose land was parched from a drought and they requested her help in bringing rain to their home. She complied and upon returning home she was greeted by a visitor named Professor Charles Xavier who revealed that Ororo was a Mutant and that he wanted her aid to help others in the world. Ultimately, she decided to accept his offer and decided to depart her village for the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters. (Giant-Size X-Men v1 #1)
X-Men
X-Treme X-Men
Shortly after her brief leave of absence, the X-Men learned of the Diaries of the late precog Destiny, which chronicled the future. With only one book in their possession, Ororo realized that the diaries were a dangerous weapon, a weapon someone as powerful as Charles Xavier could not be trusted with and that she had to find the rest. With a hand-picked team of X-Men, she left the mansion. She especially asked Tessa AKA Sage to be among this group, as her analytical skills would be needed to make sense of the cryptic prophecies. (X-Men v2 #109) Their first mission saw Storm's X-Men were ambushed and captured by the Spanish Guardia Civil in Valencia. This turned out to be a trap envisioned by Vargas, a rival who had also had access to Destiny's Diaries. (X-Treme X-Men v1 #1) Although Storm led her team to freedom during the battle, Vargas was able to slay Psylocke and brutally maim Beast. (X-Treme X-Men v1 #2)
After this tragedy, Storm and the X-Men helped a community of Saurids to reach the Savage Land. (X-Treme X-Men: Savage Land v1 #1) There, Storm was separated from the team during a plane crash and got kidnapped by the vengeful Brainchild of the Savage Land Mutates. (X-Treme X-Men: Savage Land v1 #2) Brainwashed to be his emissary, Storm was devolved into a vicious and feral creature who attacked her teammates. (X-Treme X-Men: Savage Land v1 #3) Beast defeated her and caused Brainchild's defeat. However, Storm was left scarred by such an encounter for having embraced savage aspects of her soul. (X-Treme X-Men: Savage Land v1 #4)
Still mourning their losses when searching for Destiny's Diaries, the X-Men learned that Gambit had been accused of murdering the Australian crime boss Viceroy. (X-Treme X-Men v1 #5) In their investigation, the X-Men realized Viceroy had feuds with the criminal Sydney Triad. Storm and Thunderbird approached Viceroy's mutant children, Heather and Davis Cameron, who were not aware of their father's identity. Storm helped Davis Cameron survive a shark attack while he was surfing and they started a flirtatious interaction. During a date, they were attacked by the Triad. (X-Treme X-Men v1 #7) After defeating the assassins, Storm and Thunderbird revealed their identities and intentions to the Camerons and joined the other X-Men in combat against Sebastian Shaw and Lady Mastermind, who had subdued Sage. Storm then coped with the weight of the recent events with her friend Jean Grey's help. (X-Treme X-Men v1 #9)
The Camerons stayed with the X-Men for protection. Around that time, Gambit asked Storm for the ruby she had inherited from her mother, which – as Sage revealed – was part of a mysterious powerful group of gems called the Madripoor set. The ruby, as well as the other gems, was stolen by the other-dimensional warrior Shaitan, who also abducted Gambit. Shaitan used the gems and Gambit’s power to create a portal - a giant space needle in the making - that allowed the other-dimensional armies of his master Khan, a conqueror of whole universes, to enter Madripoor, while at the same time casting a force field that prevented other heroes from entering Madripoor to help. Storm came to reach out to Kitty Pryde who was in Chicago where she was attempting to settle back in her life and step away from being a superhero. She came to ask Kitty to re-join the X-Men and take over as she was planning to step down as she had lost faith in her leadership ability following recent incidents. (X-Men Prime v2 #1)
Whilst in prison, Scythian of the Negative Zone managed to arrive on Earth and sought to destroy it. Ororo came to be buried in some debris where in her frustration and helplessness she inadvertently called the hammer Stormcaster from Old Asgard that came to her hand. With her increased power, she participated in the battle against Scythian and defeated the entity. (X-Men: Gold v2 #25)
Uovu claimed responsibility for their resurrection with Ororo later investigating the village only to discover the dead had been hidden underground and brought under the dark gods control. When confronting Uovu, the mysterious being attacked Storm who attempted to call upon Stormchaser but it did not respond. (X-Men: Gold v2 #34) This nearly led to her death but the hammer eventually arrived where it formed a portal for the X-Men to aid their comrade against the villain. With its power, Ororo was able to vanquish Uovu though this spent the last magic of Stormcaster that vanished. With the villain's defeat, the resurrected people similarly vanished with Ainet forgiving Storm for not returning to the village. She became determined to visiting her home village more frequently as a friend to ensure that the people never fell under the influence of evil again. (X-Men: Gold v2 #35)
House of X
After the establishment of Krakoa, the living island came to be declared a nation that was to be a homeland to all Mutants who were invited to reside on it. Storm came to be among the X-Men that relocated to Krakoa where she later placed a Krakoan flower in Winchester, New York where it created a portal linking to the island. (House of X v1 #1)
After hearing the prophecy, Storm came to realise that she was one of the chosen sword wielders to fight in the upcoming tournament in Otherworld. She came to realise that the sword she was supposed to meet the Wakanda blade Skybreaker. Thus, she travelled to Wakanda to petition the Queen-Mother to wield the sacred sword that was forged by the founding Father of Wakanda. However, King T'Challa was away at the time and the decision to take the blade would cause some political turmoil for the kingdom. In fact, political factions looking to depose the royal family were said to make use of the taking of the sword as a weapon to topple the throne. Storm came to explain the urgency of her mission with the Queen-Mother stating that they wait until the Black Panther returned. Storm ultimately decided to break into the temple holding the Skybreaker and circumvented its defences whilst also rendering Shuri unconscious when she confronted her. Taking the sword, she made her way to the Krakoa gate with T'Challa present at the scene. Storm, however, would not return the sword with Black Panther stating that he would have done anything for her. Rather than risk further fighting, he allowed her to keep Skybreaker but destroyed the gate after Ororo went through it. She then joined the gathered champions that were assembling at the Krakoan summoning circle for the upcoming contest. (Marauders v1 #13)
She later came to be one of a number of Omega-level Mutants that participated in the large scale terraforming of Mars using her abilities. Once conditions were made, Storm began to direct weather phenomena that helped make the planet more habitable with this being achieved with the aid of members of the Great Ring of Arakko. Once complete, the world was renamed as planet Arakko with the entirety of the living island Arakko being transported to its surface to populate it. (Planet-Size X-Men v1 #1) In the aftermath, Storm was assigned a new position where she was placed as the Regent of Mars and tasked with keeping the Arakkii in line. (S.W.O.R.D. v2 #6)
Afterwards, she headed a meeting of the Great Ring of Arakko where they voted on whether to stay on their new world or return to Amenth to wage war alongside Genesis. Ultimately, Storm came to use her deciding vote to keep the Arakkii on the planet and continue to live the path of peace. Later on, she was present at the Red Lagoon when an incident involving Vulcan affected the bar. In this time, Abigail Brand proposed the creation of a new X-Men team that would be based on Planet Arakko though Storm wanted no part in the matter. The incident though had led to Storm becoming suspicious of Brand and looked to gather allies to investigate her activities. Luckily, she came to find that Sunspot had developed similar suspicions where he suggested an X-Men team as well alongside Magneto with Storm joining them as she suggested they form a Brotherhood. Personality and attributes
In appearance, Storm was a beautiful black woman with long white hair and her eyes being crystal blue. Ororo descends from African women with white hair and blue eyes. Upon joining the X-Men, she came to be given the code name of Storm. (Giant-Size X-Men v1 #1) After marrying T'Challa, her married name was Ororo Iqadi T'Challa though in the Hausa dialect her title took around five minutes to recite. As the Queen of Wakanda, she was known by the official short form title as Ororo Komo Wakandas. In France, she was called La Reine Storm which tended to amuse her. (Astonishing X-Men v3 #25) As one of the Horsemen of Salvation, she came to be the Horseman of Life. (Uncanny X-Men v5 #9)

In her home of Kenya, her powers caused her village to view her as the Great Goddess of the Storm where she often beseeched her for aid in making the weather more amicable for them. (Giant-Size X-Men v1 #1)

Powers and abilities
As a Mutant, Ororo was born with superhuman abilities with her manifesting in the power to control the weather. This allowed her the ability to fly in the air where she could generate a wide range of weather-like phenomena. (Giant-Size X-Men v1 #1) It was said that when her powers first emerged that she stopped feeling the effects of weather to the point that she had forgotten what it was like to be cold. (X-Men: Worlds Apart v1 #1)
She was able to connect to the electromagnetic field of a planet that was the source of her power. (Black Panther v4 #25) After developing her Mutant powers, she came to develop a second sense and broad perspective that allowed her to see weather patterns enveloping the planet. Her body was said to change temperature in accordance to the environment. Thus, the colder the air got then the warmer her body came to be in response. On one occasion, she was trying to control an unnatural storm she becomes overwhelmed as her body temperature rises too high. (X-Men Unlimited v1 #1)
Initially, she was registered as being among the Alpha-level Mutants that were held as the most powerful of their kind. (X-Men v2 #97) Such was her power that she was considered a possible Omega-level Mutant. (Black Panther v4 #21) It was later noted that she was indeed an Omega-level Mutant for her ability to control the weather. (House of X v1 #1)
She could command the very air and prevent it from going into a person's lungs leading to them choking and struggling to breath. (X-Men: Worlds Apart v1 #1) In battle, she could manipulate the air pressure in an opponent's inner ear leaving them in pain. (X-Men: Worlds Apart v1 #3)
Storm could drop the temperature in a localised area by about 200 degrees causing guns to be rendered useless and people holding them suffering from frostbite. (X-Men: Worlds Apart v1 #2)
Among her abilities was the power to generate lightning from her fingertips. (Giant-Size X-Men v1 #1) Through concentration, she could cause a bolt of lightning to strike a target far away from her. (X-Men: Worlds Apart v1 #2)
She was able to manipulate the weather on a global level as it responded to her whims. However, affecting the planet on such a scale was deemed unnatural and that there would be repercussions which was why she only did such a move if she had no choice. (X-Men: Worlds Apart v1 #4)
She had said that she shared a bond with Mother Earth and could feel the planet's pains. (X-Men Unlimited v1 #1)
Ororo upon joining the X-Men was provided a costume composed of Unstable Molecules that fit her perfectly. (Giant-Size X-Men v1 #1)
It came to be known as Stormcaster which was believed to had been destroyed. (X-Men: To Serve and Protect v1 #3) However, it still existed and came to reside in Old Asgard. (X-Men: Gold v2 #25) This was until it was awakened by a prayer where it moved to Storm's hand and transformed her to give her divine Asgardian power. (X-Men: Gold v2 #33)
Ororo later came to wield one of the Arms of Wakanda where she came to take the fabled sword Skybreaker that was forged by the founding Father of Wakanda. The weapon was constructed from Vibranium where it could never dull and had the power to amplify energy. Typically, it was only stored within the Temple of the Heart of Wakanda and was sacred to the nation with only the King wielding it. However, Storm came to forcibly take it from its resting place in order to wield it against the forces of Arrako. (Marauders v1 #13)
At one point, she was brainwashed by Nate Grey to serve as a member of his Horsemen of Salvation. (Uncanny X-Men v5 #9)

- Storm was created by Len Wein and Dave Cockrum where she made her first appearance in Giant-Size X-Men v1 #1 (May, 1975).
Alternate Versions
- In X-Men v1 #141 (1980), an alternate version of Storm appeared in the Days of Future's Past reality designated as Earth-811 in the Multiverse. Like most of the surviving X-Men, Storm was detained in the South Bronx Mutant Containment Facility. When they broke out of the concentration camp, she suggested infiltrating the Baxter Building, the Sentinels' continental nerve center, in order to destroy it and cripple them. Inside the Baxter Building, she was eventually killed by an Alpha Class Sentinel.
- In X-Men: Alpha v1 #1 (1994), an alternate version of Storm appeared in the Age of Apocalypse reality designated as Earth-295 in the Multiverse. Following the rise of Apocalypse the continent of Africa was in disarray. Ororo rose up and declared herself the Windrider. She carved out a small area of Africa as her own and intended to keep it safe from the strife of the war between humans and mutants. Unfortunately this just drew attention to her and her people. Apocalypse attacked the Windrider's new nation and brought it to its knees. He captured her, had her branded and put her in the care of Sinister and the Dark Beast, instructing them to make her into a warrior of Apocalypse. He named her Storm. In the Dark Beast’s labs Storm was tortured and subjected to the mind-warping telepathy of the Shadow King. Able to fight off his telepathy, her struggle summoned a storm of such great strength that power across Apocalypse's lands was knocked out. During this outage, a sympathetic Prelate Scott Summers helped her escape.
- In X-Men Forever v2 #4 (2009), an alternate version of Storm appeared in the X-Men Forever reality designated as Earth-161 in the Multiverse.
- In Wolverine v3 #70 (2009), an alternate version of Storm appeared in the Old Man Logan reality of the Wastelands designated as Earth-807128 in the Multiverse. Storm was one of the X-Men that Logan was tricked into murdering by Mysterio when the villains got organized and attacked the heroes all at once.
- In All-New X-Men v1 #17 (2013), an alternate version of Storm appeared in the possible future from the Battle of the Atom reality designated as Earth-13729 in the Multiverse. At some point, Ororo had a daughter who she named Kymera. was present at Dazzler's victory speech at Washington, D.C., and seemingly died during the following attac
