Biography
Origin
Phosphorus Rex was a male human born on Earth who at some point attained the ability to manipulate fire where he would become a member of the Circus of Crime. After Mister Toad was apprehended by the Gotham City Police Department, Phosphorus Rex joins the Circus of Strange members Big Top, Siam, and a group of Professor Pyg's Dollotrons in attacking the Gotham City Police Department. This resulted in four police officers getting killed and six others ending up injured. Phosphorus Rex and the rest of the Circus of Strange were defeated by Batman and Robin. Batman later interrogated Phosphorus Rex into giving him the identity of the Circus of Strange's leader. What Phosphorus Rex told Batman led him to confront the mad scientist known as Professor Pyg. Post-Flashpoint
Following the Flashpoint, a new version of reality was created with a different history of events. Phosphorus Rex
When Batman arrived at the institution to capture a corrupt guard, the guard released all of the inmates from their cells as a distraction. Along with the other inmates, Phosphorus Rex took part in the massive break-out attempt. The attempt failed as the numerous inmates were stopped by Batman and Nightwing and were forced to return to their cells. (Batman v2 #1)

- Phosphorus Rex was created by Grant Morrison and Andy Kubert where he made his first appearance in Batman v1 #666 (July, 2007).
Alternate Versions
- In Batman v1 #666 (2007), an alternate version of Phosphorus Rex appeared in the Batman in Bethlehem possible future. He was shown as being one of the five powerful Gotham City crime bosses killed by Bat-Devil.
In other media
Television
- In Beware the Batman, a character seemingly based on Phosphorus Rex appeared in the setting of the animated television series where he was voiced by actor Greg Ellis. This version was named Milo Match, who worked as Tobias Whale's lawyer and chief enforcer.
Video games
- In Batman: Arkham Knight, Phosphorus Rex was referenced in the setting of the video game set in the Arkhamverse. Professor Pyg mentioned him as a combustible wonder in an audio recording.
