Biography
Origin
Johnny Gallo was a male human Mutant born in the modern age where he grew up in Brooklyn with him being raised by his mother. (Slingers v1 #1)
When he was 6 years old, Gallo met Kathy where the two grew up together and became life-long friends. As children, the pair played 'house' and 'doctor' where they later came to date when they entered their teenage years. (Slingers v1 #1)
Around seven years ago, his mother took Little Johnny Gallo to the market as it was his fathers birthday. Whilst there, she noted that he was a special child with this only becoming more apparent when one day at the supermarket where his enhanced senses allowed him to avoid a car about to hit him. Unknown to them, this was witnessed by Nanny and her Orphan-Maker who determined that the boy was a Mutant where they wanted to acquire him. Johnny then returned a shopping trolley and when he returned he found that his mother had been killed with the murderers making a quick escape as they abandoned their plans. Afterwards, he came to be raised by his father who struggled in caring for his son. (Slingers v1 #9)
Prior to his freshman year at Empire State University, he was approached by the aging superhero Black Marvel who had taken notice of Johnny and his gifts. He came to offer Gallo the Ricochet costume along with an array of armaments for him that he could use as a masked hero. Johnny came to accept the offer and was taken under Black Marvel's wing as the first of his proteges with Gallo undergoing a rigorous training regimen under his new mentor. Losing sleep due to his training, Johnny fell asleep during his ESU freshman orientation. Asked to partner up on a group project assignment by fellow freshman Cassie St. Commons, Johnny added Eddie McDonough to their group assuming his apparent intelligence would be an asset. Leaving to meet with the Black Marvel on the ESU campus, Johnny was introduced to another recruit, Ritchie Gilmore, who was training to become Prodigy. Unbeknownst to Johnny, he had been followed by Cassie and Eddie, who would also be taken under the Black Marvel's wing as well. (Slingers v1 #6) The four formed a team with Gallo as Ricochet, Cassie as Dusk, Eddie as Hornet, and Ritchie as Prodigy where they began training together. (Slingers v1 #0)

Beyond
Later on, Gallo came to gain a job at the Beyond Corporation's hero division when the company was delving into privatised superheroes. This saw him being assigned to a Beyond facility that was experimenting in inter-dimensional technology. Meanwhile, his friend Dusk came to mistakenly believe that Beyond was holding Ricochet against his will leading to her asking for the new Hornet Hobie Brown for help. The two worked together to break into the facility only to find that Ricochet and the Beyond team were working to stop a monster outbreak. The two intruders then worked together with Ricochet in shutting down the device responsible for the anomaly thus ending the crisis. (Amazing Spider-Man v5 #88.BEY)

In appearance, Johnny Gallo was a young male teenage human who had distinct short silver hair. Looking to become a superhero, he came to fashion a costumed identity where he operated under the name of Ricochet. (Slingers v1 #1)
When he was little, his mother had always told him that he was special. After she was gone, Johnny felt anything but special. (Slingers v1 #1)

Initially, Johnny felt that he could not trust anybody. Not his father and not his mother who had died leaving Gallo alone in the world. (Slingers v1 #1)
Someone he came to be close with was his blonde-haired childhood friend Kathy who he knew since they were both 6 years old. Initially, they were friends but they began dating when they entered their teenage years. (Slingers v1 #1)
Gallo was shown to be impressed by Spider-Man and admired the hero. (Slingers v1 #0)
Powers and abilities
Johnny Gallo was born a Mutant though he was unaware of his heirloom that had been passed to him by his mother. (Slingers v1 #1)
His gift was hyperactive agility and a kind of danger sense. (Slingers v1 #1)
On his costume jacket, there were a number of yellow discs that he cold throw with incredible accuracy and were able to ricochet off surfaces before returning to his hands. (Slingers v1 #1)
He lived in his family home that was located in Brooklyn. (Slingers v1 #1)
Notes
- Ricochet was created by Joseph Harris and Adam Pollina where he made his first appearance in Slingers v1 #0 (December, 1998).
- The character name was first used by Peter Parker after he was forced to quit being Spider-Man following an attack by the Black Tarantula during the Identity Crisis storyline.

Television
- In The Spectacular Spider-Man, a variation of Ricochet appeared in the setting of the animated television series. This version was the identity taken by Fancy Dan of the Enforcers who were provided a suit to give him the ability to fight Spider-Man.
Video games
- In Spider-Man: Edge of Time, the Ricochet costume appeared as an alternate skin available to Spider-Man through DLC.
- In The Amazing Spider-Man 2, the Ricochet costume appeared as an alternate skin available to Spider-Man. This version was stated to be inspired by an in-universe comic book series that Peter Parker enjoyed as a child and sought to recreate.
