Biography

Serving the Companions

He was born in the Pacific Rim at the Caya Islands. (Episode: Limbo) He attended law school but never practiced law; instead he joined the FBI. (Episode: Law and Order) In his early career, Ronald Sandoval was present during the devastating global conflict known as the SI War erupted over Earth. At the time, he served as an intelligence agent but did not get an opportunity to participate in the overseas engagement. He claimed that he insisted on a transfer but his commanding officer informed him that he was more valuable state side. (Episode: Scorched Earth) During his early career, he served in a counter terrorism unit alongside Ryan Patrichio who served there for two years. (Episode: Pariah) At an unknown point, he became the author of a congressional record called the Companion Cooperation Decree with Article 34 of that law providing Companion Protectors the right to terminate suspects in exceptional circumstances such as the attempted murder of a Taelon. (Episode: Abduction)

At some point in his early life, he got married to a woman called Dee Dee with the two of them living a happy married life. When he was chosen to serve as a Protector to the Companions, Sandoval was implanted with a CVI which increased his brain intelligence but also made a motivational imperative for him to serve the Taelons. As a result, he became more withdrawn from his wife and began to see her as being infantile. When Dee Dee began to complain to her family and causing more marital problems, Ronald Sandoval decided that it was the time to act. Whilst he could not kill his wife, he decided to place her in an FBI facility for the mentally insane thus removing her from his life. (Episode: Truth) He was given a cyber-viral implant around seven years ago. (Episode: Trapped by Time) Later, he came into service to the Companion Da'an and when his charge expressed a desire to have police officer William Boone as a Protector, Sandoval made steps to ensure that would happen. (Episode: Decision)

When it was decided that Rho'ha was to be tried by a human court, the Companions elected Ronald Sandoval as chief attorney with William Boone as his junior. (Episode: Law and Order)

Zo'or

During the crackdown on the Liberation cells around the world, Captain Lili Marquette was involved in a sabotage attempt of the Taelon mothership that threatened to destroy the vessel. However, the act was stopped and Zo'or managed to send the excess energy into space. Ronald Sandoval also attempted to ensure that the truth of the attack on President Daniel Thompson was covered up in order to ensure that the Taelons had proper motive to maintain martial law. To accomplish this act, he had his agent Tate involved in killing anyone that threatened to reveal the conspiracy but failed. Sandoval later orchestrated an elaborate setup that made it appear that Captain Marquette had died during the attempt. (Episode: Crackdown) When Marquette was scheduled for termination, Sandoval secretly had her saved and taken to a secured facility where he had her bio-engineered for a special mission. Once complete, he sent her into a pre-programmed course on a Taelon shuttle that sent Lili into space. (Episode: The Vanished)

It was eventually discovered that cyber-viral implants were being rejected by human bodies which necessitated the removal of the organic implants from their host. Agent Sandoval was one of many taken aboard the Taelon mothership who took part in the removal process and thus lost access to his Skrill implant. (Episode: Trapped by Time)

Atavus

Despite seriousness of the wounds he had sustained, Sandoval had survived and used his control over the mothership to prevent any Earth based shuttle from attempting to salvage the Taelon ship. He used its energy weapons to destroy one such shuttle from the United States leading many to wonder who still was present on aboard the starship. Through the use of the ships sensors, he was kept aware of global events and monitored Renee Palmer's actions at the Atavan regeneration chamber. This allowed him to witness the awakening of the original Atavus which he sought as an ally against Earth. Using the motherships tractor beam, he took their stasis chamber onboard tne ship in order to save them from destruction. (Episode: Unearthed) He kept the Atavus contained behind force fields where he stated that he wanted to form an alliance with the creatures in order to conquer the Earth. Sandoval's plans involved being the human overlord of the planet that the Atavan leader Howlyn would rule. Initially, Howlyn rejected this proposal but was later convinced by his mate Juda to accept it. In the medical bay, Sandoval showed an obvious attraction to Juda and later had sex with her whereupon she used her own lifeforce to heal Sandoval of his injuries. As a sign of his loyalty, Sandoval provided Howlyn with Renee Palmer though she later managed to escape with the aid of the last Taelon known as Ra'jel. (Episode: Pariah) His close relationship with Juda, Sandoval learnt of the Atavan chambers that they could be used to create Human-Atavus hybrids in order to infiltrate the Earth. He also suggested that this process be used convert high ranking government and military figures into hybrids to serve Howlyn. Sandoval greatly achieved this early infiltration with the aid of Acting Director of the FBI Ryan Patrichio who secretly moved humans through Portals to the mothership where they were hybridized. (Episode: The Seduction)

Later, Renee Palmer managed to uncover the location of Howlyn's ship which sent a beacon signal that was detected by the Taelon mothership. This allowed Sandoval to track the ship and he along with Howlyn as well as his followers travelled to the site where they managed to retake the ship before Palmer could destroy it. Satisfied with Sandoval's work, he gave the human his desire to kill Renee Palmer and sent him on his way. Using the motherships sensors as a guide, he managed to trace her transport to a church and later uncovered an underground lair beneath it. He quickly attacked Palmer who was alone inside and stated that he had spent five years looking for this location. Initially, he managed to shoot Renee's weapon from her and came close to killing her but she kicked him off a platform and Sandoval fell upon some heavy machinery where he was speared by metallic pipes. His dying breath was that he would have killed her without hesitation and his last words that he had no regrets. Stating that he would do all his past acts again in a heartbeat after which he died. (Episode: Final Conflict)

Overview

Personality and attributes

Due to the CVI implant, his personality during service to the Companions drastically changed as he felt no connection to his wife. In fact, he began to see her as being more infantile and childish as she continued to impede his service to the Taelons. However, he did not kill her though he felt that he should have but instead committed her to a mental asylum where she was cared for but away from him. The implant within his brain compelled him to remove the threat posed by his wife and thus he took steps to kill William Boone's wife in order to remove an obstacle in his emotional life as he did not want Boone who was appointed as a Protector to Da'an to be impeded by family life. (Episode: Truth) He typically did not like to discuss wearing his ring with his subordinates. (Episode: Moonscape)

Initially, Sandoval cared very little about the desires of others and placed the needs of the Companions above Human beings. (Episode: Miracle) In fact, he placed their needs above his own life as when he learnt that CVI's might have a built-in time limit whereupon their host dies; Sandoval was more concerned about maximising the time he had left to serve Da'an. (Episode: Avatar) However, following the dissolution of his CVI, Ronald Sandoval came to place his priorities above anyone else as he sought to gain ultimate power. (Episode: Scorched Earth) He deeply despised the Taelons he served as he considered them nothing more then ruthless parasites that had manipulated his life, killed his wife and humiliated him. Thus, he sought to serve them only until he attained power and even sought to ally with the Jaridians to terminate his masters. (Episode: Dark Matter)

Sandoval once claimed that he quite enjoyed his job during interrogation sessions with suspects. (Episode: Phantom Companion) He also felt that one should always have a backup plan. (Episode: Atonement)

Powers and abilities

Sandoval's interrogation specialty was involuntary mental intervention which had an unexpected as well as fatal consequences. For humans, such a process was like having a rodent trapped within their mind which was trying to escape. Whilst he performed these acts, he himself was never subjected to such a treatment. (Episode: The Forge of Creation)

He possessed Level 5 security protocols and was the only person to do so. This allowed him near unlimited access to most Taelon facilities. (Episode: Dream Stalker)
