Biography
Original Timeline
Sektor was a male human born in the modern age in Earthrealm where he was the son of the Grand Master of the Lin Kuei clan of assassins. He was noted to had volunteered for the automation of the clan with him becoming one of the first three prototype cybernetic ninjas. Sektor was fully cybernetically enhanced as part of the Lin Kuei’s 'cyber initiative', which transformed him into a soulless war machine. He clashed directly with Sub-Zero, who had refused the cyber initiative, and attempted to hunt him down on behalf of the Lin Kuei Grandmaster. Despite his arsenal, he was beaten in combat and forced to withdraw, leaving the Lin Kuei’s pursuit of Sub-Zero unresolved.
During Outworld's invasion, he was among the survivors of Shao Kahn's onslaught as he had no soul that could be taken from him.
His fellow cyborg Cyrax came to suffer from a prolonged exile in the desert with the Lin Kuei becoming suspicious of his ability to continue to function. However, their forces were vastly reduced and they deployed him on his next assignment though Sektor was ordered to accompany him. In reality, Sektor's assignment was to watch and report on Cyrax with this determining the fate of his comrade.
It was noted that during his violent battles with Outworld that his programming had become corrupt.
In the aftermath of Shao Kahn’s defeat, Sektor pursued personal power within the Lin Kuei. He challenged and killed the Lin Kuei Grandmaster, claiming control of the clan for himself. Establishing dominance through sheer force, Sektor used his cybernetic strength and weaponry to consolidate leadership and continue the cyber initiative. He transformed the Lin Kuei into a fully cybernetic order loyal only to him, declaring himself Grandmaster and severing ties to tradition. This new direction placed him in opposition to Sub-Zero and the reformed Lin Kuei, creating a violent rivalry that defined their conflict going forward. This saw him attempting to lay claim to the powerful Dragon Medallion but he was stopped by the younger Sub-Zero. Following an intense battle, Sektor was defeated but he managed to escape to Japan where he set about forming his own clan consisting of cybernetic ninja that became known as the Tekunin.
Reboot Timeline
In an effort to stop Shao Kahn's victory, Raiden sent a warning back through time to his earlier self in order to avert this future. This caused a change in the timeline as Raiden sought to use the incomplete experiences of his future self to prevent that timeline from occurring. The son of the Lin Kuei Grandmaster grew to become a powerful assassin and warrior within the clan. It was shown that he was among those responsible for corruption Bi-Han who the elder Sub-Zero in the Lin Kuei clan. The Lin Kuei were then hired by Shang Tsung to participate in the Mortal Kombat Tournament on his island. Their assignment was to eliminate the competitors of Earthrealm before they had a chance of competing. Thus, he arrived on the island alongside the Cyrax and the elder Sub-Zero.
Following Shinnok's defeat, the Keeper of Time Kronika desired to rewrite history and create a new universe in order to bring balance to the realms. To accomplish this, she used the Sands of Time to summon past versions of deceased individuals to serve as her allies. Among them included Sektor who allied with her under the promise that his Cyber Lin Kuei would have a part in her New Era. Alongside Cyrax and Frost, he began reactivating a Cyber Lin Kuei factory with them being assisted by Noob Saibot. The assembly plant was using the brains of deceased Lin Kuei warriors from Sub-Zero's temple to become robotic slave soldiers that would aid Kronika. The factory producing new Cyber Ninja was infiltrated by Sub-Zero and Scorpion with Sektor confronting the pair only to be defeated. The deactivated Sektor was recovered by his compatriots and taken back to Kronika's Keep where Geras was under instructions to restore the cyborg. To achieve that end, he brought the time displaced past versions of Kano and Erron Black to get their aid in restoring him. The younger Kano was promised by his older self that they would have a place in the New Era. They then repaired Sektor who took command of an army of Cyber Ninja that had been replicated from his designs with them striking at the Special Forces headquarters located in Earthrealm. This saw him battle Johnny Cage but was defeated though his allies in the Black Dragon managed to kidnap the past versions of Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade. Kano then triggered an explosive device in Sektor who was left behind at the Special Forces headquarters in order to destroy the site along with all their enemies thus seemingly seeing the death of the Cyber Ninja.
Overview
Personality and attributes
In appearance, Sektor was a fully cybernetic warrior outfitted in red Lin Kuei armor with black underplates. His helmet concealed his face entirely, with a featureless metallic visor and reinforced plating around his jaw and neck. Mechanical augmentations covered his entire body, replacing flesh with metal, and his armor concealed built-in weaponry, including missile ports in his shoulders and flame projectors in his arms. His body was humanoid in shape but entirely artificial, constructed for lethal efficiency. After his transformation, the name Sektor became his code name whilst his designation was unit LK-9T9.
In personality, Sektor was portrayed as ruthless, calculating, and devoid of compassion. Unlike Cyrax, who struggled with his humanity, Sektor embraced his cybernetic programming fully, discarding any remnants of emotion or conscience. He displayed unwavering loyalty to the Lin Kuei’s cyber initiative and later pursued power for himself, showing ambition and a cold, pragmatic drive for control. His devotion to the mission and his lack of hesitation in killing allies or enemies alike marked him as a purely mechanical enforcer of the Lin Kuei’s will.
As the son of the Grand Master, it was never a question that Sektor would join the ranks of the Lin Kuei. In fact, he relished the life of an assassin as it helped him express his darker nature with this pleasing his father. It was noted that Sektor used any means necessary in order to complete his tasks. Unknown to anyone, his ultimate goal was to supplant his father as Grand Master of the Lin Keui. One account claimed that him killing his father was the result of corrupted programming as a result of him fighting Outworld's forces.
It was noted that he willingly volunteered to undergo the transformation into becoming a cybernetic ninja out of loyalty to the clan.
Powers and abilities
In abilities, Sektor was a cybernetic ninja assassin with advanced weapon systems built into his body. He wielded integrated flamethrowers, rapid-fire missile launchers, and energy-based teleportation that allowed him to instantly appear behind opponents for attacks. His cybernetic enhancements granted him superhuman strength, speed, and durability, far exceeding that of an unmodified Lin Kuei warrior.
A result of being a cyborg meant that he had no soul that could be taken from him.
He could fire a beam from his forearm that was strong enough to cut through heavy metal doors.
As Grandmaster of the Lin Kuei, he commanded an army of similarly cybernetic ninjas, consolidating his personal power with technology and lethal combat programming.
