Biography

Superman X was a being that was native to the far future timeline of the 41st century. This future was created by the actions of the Legion of Super-Heroes of the earlier 31st century whose actions managed to bring about a golden age of peace. However, a new threat emerged known as Imperiex whose power and ruthless nature allowed him to overpower the inhabitants of this era. The people of the 41st century were ill-prepared against the tyrannical onslaught of their cybernetic foe. This was until the digital machine entity known as K3NT decided to create a champion to fight for them. The machine managed to find a lone genetic sample of the legendary 21st century hero known as Superman and used it to create a clone of that long lost superhero. Through genetic manipulation, K3NT engineered a clone of the hero to serve as a living weapon against Imperiex and removed the weakness to Kryptonite. This hero was known as Superman X who waged a constant conflict with the relentless forces of Imperiex but was unable to stem the tide. It was decided that Superman X needed assistance and it was decided to send him back in time to find the heroes that brought the peace namely the Legion of Super-Heroes. With a Warp Key, he was sent into the 31st century and recruited a number of Legionnaires to assist him. Superman X's brisk manner initially caused the Legionnaires to be reluctant in aiding him but they aided in protecting the inhabitants of New Metropolis from attack. With the aid of Brainiac 5, they managed to defeat Imperiex whereupon Superman X was ready to send the Legion back to their time. However, Imperiex was still active and used the opportunity to take the Warp Key and use it to go to the 31st century. This led to the Legionnaires trapped in the 41st century and the actions of Imperiex in their task caused the timeline to alter leading to the distant future being erased. As a result, K3NT was lost to a bubble of antimatter as Superman X's future was removed from history. However, Brainiac 5 managed to make use of the technology in Imperiex's warship to create a time portal back to the 31st century with Superman X joining them. They arrived back at the Legion Headquarters only to see it in ruin. It was revealed that part of Imperiex's plans involved the freeing of the Fatal Five and the Legion of Super-Villains from the prison world of Takron-Galtos. As a result, a number of Legionnaires were trapped in the prison whilst the remaining faced a supervillain onslaught. Superman X joined the Legion in battling the villains and forcing them to retreat.

In the aftermath, the Legion sought to free their colleagues but Superman X felt that this was a distraction and that they should target Imperiex. To aid their diminished numbers, the Legionnaires summoned the original Superman to aid them as well. Around this time, Imperiex made his way into the ruined Legion Headquarters and absorbed the knowledge of Computo with Superman X confronting him. In the battle, Imperiex escaped with the aid of Validus with both Superman X and Brainiac 5 in pursuit onboard a Legion Cruiser. However, Imperiex's knowledge from Computo allowed him to remotely detonate the craft but its two occupants survived. They were taken aboard a vessel that Chameleon Boy had taken from his father that was not connected to Computo. Once again, the Legion sought to free their colleagues on Takron-Galtos but Superman X refused to join them where he went into space in pursuit of Imperiex. Superman X later came to the conclusion that there was strength in numbers and went back to Takron-Galtos just in time to save the overpowered Legion that had been defeated by the Fatal Five along with the Legion of Super-Villains. With his aid, the villains were defeated and placed back into confinement in their cells whilst the captured Legionnaires were freed. It was then decided that a united effort would be made in combating Imperiex with it also decided to give Superman X a personal name with Superman calling him Kell-El as a variation of his own name. Afterwards, Kell-El was present in the Legion committee assembled to judge Timber Wolf who had seemingly killed his own father. Though reluctant, he followed the orders in attempting to arrest Timber Wolf. This was until it was revealed that Dr. Mar Londo had orchestrated his own death in an effort to frame his son.

Overview

Personality and attributes

Superman and Superman X.

The Legion later decided that he needed his own name with Brainiac 5 suggesting something similar to Superman's birth name of Kal-El with Superman suggesting Kell-El.

Unlike Superman or the mythos that surrounds him, Superman X had little desire to be a hero. He even stated that whether he was a hero or a coward did not matter so long as he got the job done. This made him single minded in his approach to the point that he cared little beyond his objective thus acting as a living weapon. Initially, he did not take into account strategic options and simply charged into the battlefield and attempt to destroy his enemies. This also made him at first alone in his approach to combat in the sense that he was not considered a team player. (Ep: Edge of Tomorrow)

Superman X was shown to be distrusting of Brainiac 5 making vague comments about the Coluans actions that impacted the future.

He held a deep seated hatred of Imperiax to the point that he believed that his only purpose was the destruction of his mortal enemy. He even stated that the only reason for his existence was to stop Imperiax. (Ep: Edge of Tomorrow)

Powers and abilities

Similar to Superman, Kell-El shared all the genetic traits of his 'parent' donor. As such, he had the full range of powers of a Kryptonian when under the rays of a yellow sun. This included flight, superstrength, invulnerability, X-Ray vision, heat vision and so on. However, during the genetic engineering process that led to his cloning, Superman X's creators inserted Kryptonite into his genetic structure. The bonding of the element led to him being completely immune to its normally harmful radiation. (Ep: Edge of Victory)

His uniform was able to regenerate a yellow energy shield from above his wrists. This manifested as either short blades allowing him to cut through enemies or into a large shield to protect himself from attack. (Ep: Edge of Tomorrow)
