Sylvia Grantham was the niece of Bedelia Grantham, great niece of Nathan Grantham, and the aunt of both Cass and Richard Grantham. After Bedelia murdered Nathan in a fit of rage one Father's Day, it was Sylvia who arranged the crime scene to make it appear as though Nathan had merely suffered an unfortunate accident. Ever since, she lived in her great uncle's country mansion and every Father's Day for seven years she and the rest of the Grantham family celebrated Nathan's demise. But on the seventh Father's Day since the murder, Great Uncle Nathan rose from the grave to revenge - and cake. After killing both Aunt Bedelia and Cass' luckless new husband, Nathan shambled towards the mansion.

Without knowing of this, Aunt Sylvia decided to go and look for Cass' husband. Headed to the backdoor through the kitchen she became distracted wondering where the cook Mrs. Danvers was. She found Danvers murdered by Nathan's hands, and attempting to run away found herself confronted by the undead Nathan. Growling, "I want my cake!" Nathan grabbed the shocked Sylvia's head and wrenched it off her shoulders, killing her instantly. Later he emerged from the kitchen carrying the severed head on a platter, gleefully announcing to a horrified Cass and Richard that he finally got his Father's Day cake.
