History
The Trinity of Sin were a trio of humans that were cursed with immortality due to crimes that were considered the worst in the world. Each were taken by the Circle of Eternity and brought to the Rock of Eternity in order to be judged for their actions. These included Pandora who opened the box, another who became the Phantom Stranger and a third whose name was forever a question. Each were mystically cursed to wander the Earth to watch the evils they had brought to the world. The man who would become the Phantom Stranger was to be sentenced first. He begged for forgiveness from the wizards but they said that he was beyond forgiveness. They told him that he would wander the earth as a witness to what greed can do as a stranger to man. Then they gave him thirty pieces of silver to wear around his neck. The Stranger would remain in punishment until he had removed each piece of silver. Then the wizards sent him away. Next to be sentenced was the man who would become the Question. This man was defiant and declared that if the wizards did not kill him then he would rise to power again and the wizards would fear his name as the world does. The council decreed that the world and the man himself would forget his name and who he was. Then the wizards erased the man's facial features and told him that he would wander the earth asking questions and seeking answers he would never find and they sent him away. Last was Pandora who was sorrowful and unsure of what she had done to deserve punishment. The wizards told her that she had released the evils contained within the box after she had gotten curious and opened it. Pandora was truly repentant but the council punished her to an eternity of being alone to wander the earth. (The New 52: FCBD Special Edition v1 #1)
