Uatu

It was shown that he was the son of Ikor who was a senior member of the Watchers. (Original Sin v1 #0)

After the Prosilicans incident, Ikor drafted a code of ethics based upon strict non-interference and passive observation. (Tales of Suspense v1 #54)

This saw the Watchers assigning themselves to planetoids in order to observe activities on them. Uatu's own assignment was over the planet Earth with him constructing a citadel in the Blue Area of the Moon. (Fantastic Four v1 #13)

Many years ago, his citadel was compromised by Nathaniel Richards and Howard Stark with the Destroyer and the V-Battalion negotiating for their release as well as stopping a cosmic incident due to the excesses of the two explorers. (Citizen V and the V-Battalion v1 #2) In 1962, he was on the Moon when the Blue Marvel arrived were the powerful African-American superhero lived during the time of the Civil Rights movement in his native America. He came to win the Presidential Medal of Freedom but whilst mulling over it grew angry at the racism he was experiencing back in his homeland. This caused him to strike the blow thus damaging a section of the Moon surface where it was at that point the Watcher appeared before him. Uatu attempted to part some wisdom on the human by saying that every living being was the same regardless of their skin. At first, Adam Brashear was ready to give up on mankind but moved into action to stop an alien invasion of Earth in space and fought them off. Since that time, the Watcher and Blue Marvel came to be close friends. (Adam: Legend of the Blue Marvel v1 #3)

He came to observe the destruction and rebuilding of the planet Xandar after it was blown apart by Luphomoid invaders. (Fantastic Four v1 #204)

He came to appear before the stronghold of Apocalypse who had awakened from his hibernation to witness the rise of Onslaught. This event was set to mark the end of the Age of Wonders with the Watcher's presence meant to signify the importance of this event. (Uncanny X-Men v1 #335)

The Watcher came to witness Reed Richards convince his team mates among the secretive Illuminati to seek out the Infinity Gems and gather them together. When they succeeded, Richards had the stones placed on the Infinity Gauntlet with Uatu witnessing the event where he expressed his disappointment in Mr. Fantastic. However, Richards had intended to use the Gauntlet to destroy the Gems but they were tied to the cosmos which meant they could not be shattered. Thus, the Illuminati decided to split the gems amongst themselves for safekeeping to ensure no one could attain the ultimate power of all of them. (New Avengers: Illuminati v2 #2)

He appeared at Gamma Base when he came under attack from the mysterious Red Hulk. (Hulk v2 #4)

After the end of the Cotati invasion, the hostilities of the Kree-Skrull War officially came to an end with the Unseen witnessing the event. It was then that Uatu was resurrected from the eye implanted in the Unseen where he warned of a coming danger to the cosmos. (Empyre: Fallout Fantastic Four v1 #1) He and Nick Fury worked together to uncover the nature of the threat. With his human ally, they determined that it was an age old danger that came to be known as the Reckoning. The species were originally the Poscilians who had been gifted Watcher technology that they used to conquer others. This was until they and the space damaged by their weapons were trapped in a pocket dimension but after so many years this threat managed to re-emerge. The Reckoning following their escape had been supplying Watcher technology to various war-like races in order to create chaos across the universe. This saw Uatu call an urgent meeting of the Watchers which the Reckoning sought to stop by destroying Earth's Moon. (Fantastic Four: Reckoning War Alpha v1 #1) Despite their efforts, they failed and Uatu managed to teleport back to the Watcher homeworld where he urged his kin to abandon their vow of non-interference and help stop the Reckoning War. (Fantastic Four v6 #40)

Personality and attributes

This was until the Prosilicans destroyed themselves with the knowledge gifted to them. (Original Sin v1 #0)

Some claimed that his devotion to mankind was his most exploitable weakness. However, Uatu believed that there was a spark of unmistakable splendor in the infantile race. He believed that one day this would come to outshine the stars themselves. For this to occur, they required a chance to grow and evolve with Uatu looking to give them a chance to rise above their petty bigotries and antagonisms. (Fantastic Four v1 #400)
