Whilst sold as an entertainment tool, the more sinister aspect of the technology was for Nygma to use it to boost his own heightened intelligence by linking it to more minds. He became the criminal known as the [[Riddler]] who began to challenge the [[Batman]]. At some point, he used the Box technology to read the mind of Bruce Wayne and learnt that he lived a separate life as the vigilante known as Batman.
