Because several key events of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis depend on what the player does and in what order, some things may turn out differently. Case in point, Murphy Seeker can either be shot by Nicholai Ginovaef without a hint of mercy, or by a very remorseful Carlos Oliveira.
Murphy is absent from Nemesis by S.D. Perry, but the concept of Carlos having to kill a teammate who is regressing into a zombie is still there in the form of Randy Thomas, another UBCS member unique to the novel.
