The Star Brand was one of the universal systems created by the Builders that was triggered during a White Event to create a defence system on a planetary scale to aid in the progress of a civilization on a world. The abnormal White Event caused a Starbrand to be imparted on Kevin Kale Connor where he could not control its power and it killed everyone around him at his college. (Avengers v5 #8)
Overview
As part of the universal machine, the Starbrand was a system in place that was derived from a White Event that created or altered an inhabitant to take the position. It served as a form of planetary defence system which required an amount of energy to defend its charge. As a result, they were notable for being capable of destroying entire worlds. (Avengers v5 #7) The Starbrand Avatar had a starbrand insignia on the palm of their hand which could fire enormous amounts of energy. With this power, the avatar was tasked with protecting the people of the planet as they progress through a change period to become an advanced society. (Avengers v5 #8)
As a Cosmic System, a failsafe was instituted to prevent Starbrands of different worlds from killing one another by causing them to face an attraction to one another. (Starbrand and Nightmask v1 #6)
