Despite his destruction, the Living Brain was rebuilt by Anna Maria Marconi where he was now a digital entity but retained his old body for nostalgia purposes. He stayed at Horizon University where he moved to protect Anna Maria when she discovered that Professor Elliot Tolliver was actually Otto Octavius. The Brain stood down when a greater threat emerged in the form of Terrax with Octavius equipping himself as the Superior Spider-Man to deal with the danger. (Superior Spider-Man v2 #1)
